Jimmy was a top guide. We had to brave the wet and cold, but it was well worth it. Fascinating tour and a good crowd of 15 including a freemason (always a handy addition to this sort of occasion !!) . Thoroughtly enjoyed it and would heartily recommend to local or tourist alike.

Went on the Ripper Tour on Saturday 21st, our guide was Ken. Absolutely excellent, fun & informative. We took our 2 sons (aged 10 & 14) & their 14 year old blind friend, the boys thoroughly enjoyed the tour & want to go again! Ken accommodated our needs & managed to answer all the boys questions (which were many!)! Would recommend this tour & a big 'Thank You' to Ken.

Did the Ripper Tour earlier this month and it was fantastic! Chris was an absolute delight as our tour guide and loved the tour as have always been fascinated by the Victorian Era of London. Very informative and would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to do something that is not on the usual touristy trek - and its a great way to experience the East End of London!

Always been intersested in the jack the ripper story having been born & bred in east london. Me & my partner joined the group last night outside tower hill station, we was met by our guide Steve. Steve was friendly, funny & very good at his job. We walked around to different streets of interest where he stopped us to speak & show us photos, was interesting to hear all the info steve had on the story. We both thoroughly enjoyed the tour & would easily book again, recommend the tour to anyone! well done steve & thanks again.

To me, a great night! Thank you to our guide Jimmy! We really felt safe walking the streets oF Whitechapel with him and our little group of nice people and that was nice because we really were back to 1888 and Jack was lingering in the dark! It was an amazing tour, we learnt so much, we laughed too but it was also very touching and we felt sympathy for the victims as Jimmy tells us about their hard lives. This tour is not about showing gory photos but it is about sharing, sharing with people one's passion for history and for this fascinating city of London. Thank you once more to all Ripping yarns team! I wish you all the best!!!

Visited London for my birthday weekend and managed to fit this tour in to our very busy schedule on 27th November 2011 and it was the best £7 we spent each all weekend! I can't recommend this tour enough not only informative, eye opening and fun but fantastic value for money! (not something I was expecting to say about any tourist attraction in London!)
Our guide was fantastic and made the tour for us, not only did he tell the story of Jack the Rippet he offered advice on London as a whole and pointed places out that werent in the guide books!
We recognised our guide from a channel 4 television program and then the following day we spotted him again doing his 'normal' day job! Lovely man that made this tour, thank you

Came back for my third tour with these guys, this time as a private tour with some American and Australian delegates as an end of conference get together. Once again the guide performed above and beyond the call of duty. They were very accomodating to subtle changes in the walk as Diagon Alley just had too much of a pull for the parents in the group. Have already commented on how good these guys are in previous posts and having been on other tours, i can honestly say that these guys know their business!!!

Was taken on the tour by Dickie on 11/11/11, brilliant, excellent host, he opens your eyes with the stories and the real photo's. I did'nt realise that Jacks murders were as gruesome as they were until I seen the photos. Very highly recommended, thanks Dickie

I went on October 22nd with two buddies and we had a GREAT time. It's a very fast-moving tour, and you get to see a lot of the area with witty and informative stories about the happenings in 1888. I HIGHLY recommend this!

I went on 25th October with 5 other friends and my London cousin and we all really enjoyed it. Dickie was our tour guy and he was a great story teller, informative and entertaining without being too over dramatic. We chose this tour as we liked the idea of paying at the end, it shows great confidence in the tour.My friends had booked a bus tour the day before which included a Jack the Ripper tour but decided to go with this one instead.

I would definitely recommend this tour to others and would totally recommend going in winter time, when the evenings are darker as I feel it adds to this atmosphere of the tour. This is a tour for everyone, tourists and locals alike!

"Great Value"

Having spent hours researching, I went with Ripping Yarns because they escorted you back to Tower Hill tube station and you paid only if you were pleased with the tour. We were met promptly by Jimmy and set off at a cracking pace.

They give you all the information and leave it up to you to decide who he was. The group wasn't huge but you could hear him clearly above the noise of traffic etc and I am glad we were a group and not alone.

There is a lot of walking and standing still whilst the guide explains the scene.

Great evening

"A Great Night Out in Old London Town"

We arrived about 20 minutes before the walk was due to start (starts at 6.40pm at Tower Hill tube station) and was informed by Steve the guide that we should wait. The crowd gathered and there was approximately 30 of us. Steve explained that if we didn't like the tour we wouldn't have to pay and he could collect money at the end! A great deal! The cost is £7 for adults and free for children. Before the walk began Steve set the scene giving us information about the area back in Victorian England and also social issues. He told us about the policing and suspects. We walked to many of the sights where the murders took place and Steve pointed out many focal points too (including Tracey Emins house!). He explained about each victim, their known movements, who found the bodys and how they had been killed and the police actions, which was gruesome but added to the atmosphere of the night! We walked around an area of 1 mile square and visited lots of sights in the old East End, which was really interesting and you wouldn't normally wonder to such parts. Steve showed us prints and photo's to explain the story which helped the children understand too. The end of the tour saw us standing on the spot of one of the victims in Mitre Square EC3, where he also revealed who he thought the Ripper was and why and with such evidence its a substantial claim. I've seen lots of Ripper programmes and its a great theory!! All in all a very informative and enjoyable evening. Steve is a great character (a beefeater at the Tower) and certainly knows his stuff. He made it lightheard (as much as you could on such a tour) but didn't take aware the atmosphere of the evening. He offered great facts not just about the murders but the area. He kept us all safe whilst walking around, making sure we crossed roads safely etc. An excellent night out and everyone paid at the end!! We arrived back at Tower Hill at 8.50 pm so great value for money! Thank you and well done Ripping Yarns!

"Excellent.....Informative & Entertaining Tour"

We were lucky enough to be recommended this tour as the best and were 100% satisfied. I like the ethos that you don't pay till the end, if you are happy with the walk . . . there is no reason why you wouldnt be.
Simon a Yeoman of the guard by day was a great host for the evening and the font of much knowledge - not just Jack the Ripper. He had boundless energy and enthusiasm which quickly rubs off on his audience.
The time flew by, and although its a bit of a walk, you dont notice till the end, when he returns to safely to Tower Hill Tube
Highly recommended - and yes we will no doubt be doing the walk again with our other son who missed out this time . . . we had our 12yr old with us and he was fine with the tour.

Just went on www.jack-the-ripper-tours.com who run every night from Tower Hill. All the guides appear to also be Beefeaters at the Tower of London, which I think is just cool!

Our guide was Simon, who was extremely knowledgeable and very funny. He also was really friendly and at the end of the tour helped people who were unfamiliar with London with advice for places to go, routes to wherever they were staying etc, which I thought was nice of him.
"Top Night"

Been on a few walks in London and most are pretty good. I think these guys only do Jack The Ripper walks. They seem to keep the groups fairly small and ask for payment at the end so you only pay if you liked it. From what I saw, everyone paid!

I would absolutely recommend these guys.

"Great, Brilliant Guide"

We went on this tour on the Friday before Halloween so there was a very big group but it didn't matter at all because our guide (Simon) was excellent.

He is very knowledgable about all things London it seems and he made the tour interesting and fun. It cost £7 per person and you don't pay until the end.

I would definitely recommend this tour.

I went on the Jack The Ripper tour on Monday the 31 October 2011 - Halloween!! I want to say it was fantastic, both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour made interesting and informative by 'Barney', who by day works as a Yeoman Warder in the Tower and by night leads the unsuspecting tourists into the 'dark' areas of Whitechapel reliving the fateful autumn of 1888, mwhaha!
I will certainly recommend this tour to everyone I know. I was lucky to pick this tour company, Ripping Yarns. The group was small in comparison to other groups and 'Barney' made sure that everone was able to hear and he produced photgraphs of relevant areas and some gruesome bodies ewwwe!
Although knowing some of the details of the 'Rippers' murders it was quite a chilling experience to be at the actual sites! 'Barney,' job well done and thank you many times over for horrific historic evening! This could be the best £14 we have ever spent in London!

Being Halloween, it seemed like a Jack the Ripper Tour would be fun so myself and 7 friends came along. Our guide was Simon although we met and chatted to the other guides as well.

Considering it is clearly a popular thing to do on Halloween night it was interesting that your company seemed to deliberately run much smaller groups than the other companies and the experiences was all the better for it!

Simon was half historical guide and half showman and clearly has confidence in his abilities as he asked for payment only at the end of the tour and only if people had enjoyed it. Looked to me as if every person paid, as well they should!

A fantastic night which everyone in my group will be recommending to others. I have done a number of walks around London and they are generally very good but this one was head and shoulders above the others in content, but perhaps more importantly, for the wonderful entertainment.

I took the tour last year. It was GREAT. I found it listed in one of Rick Steve's travel guides. But before I saw it there Dicky Dover told my friend and I about the tour when we were visiting London Tower. I should be in London again sometime in spring and I will want to take my husband on the tour and it would be a huge plus if he can meet Dicky. :D

“Excellent, educational, and gripping"

We took this trip on Sunday night after doing a little research into the number of companies carrying out this walk. We met the guide as advertised outside Tower Hill tube at 6:45, our guide was Jimmy, an ex soldier from Wolverhampton who is now a current Beefeater at the Tower. Jimmy introduced himself and set the scene for the evening, there was approx 40 of us and he was well able to manage this group alone. We set off at quite a pace but Jimmy always ensured we were all in site, we visited all the various points of interest to do with Jack the ripper and the stories told by Jimmy were told in such a way you never lost interest, Jimmy had a great sense of humour which he used to his advantage in the story telling, as I said he had you gripped, the tour was quite fast moving but this was countered by plenty of stops where the story telling continued. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and unlike others you didn't have to pay a penny in advance, Jimmy ensures you only pay if you enjoyed the trip. Thank you Jimmy, it was a great experience. Well do

“Excellent guide, interesting and entertaining.”

There was quite a large group waiting for the tour to start at Tower Hill at 6.45pm, and with two children in tow I was a bit concerned that we may not all get to hear and see everything. I needn't of worried as our guide Dickie was brilliant, and interacted with everyone to ensure that nobody missed out on the experience.
His knowledge of the Ripper was matched by that of the general local history, and his delivery was first class. The tour does include some pretty grisly details, accompanied by a few pictures, but at 11 and 13 our kids really enjoyed the experience.
Highly recommended, especially at this time of year.

i have read a lot about Jack The Ripper but after going on this tour i think i learnt more in the 2 and a half hours of this tour than all the books and documentaries that i have read and watched.Steve was our guide and he was really good and got the crowd involved and had endless facts and information about East London.I would go again on this tour as there is so much to learn about the history in this area and era.Couldn't beleive that you don't have to pay until the end of the tour and that's if you liked it aswell .Great tour WELL DONE STEVE

had a fantastic time on the tour. 7 pound well spent, you don t always get a great London bargain, but this certainly was. Steve was our guide. We found him to be very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. I brought my 10 year old son and his friend along. I thought they might complain about the walk and lose interest and play me up a little. How wrong i was, they absolutely loved it. Steve was great with them and they where always at the front waiting for the next installment. It was a good educational but fun experience for them. Other areas of interest where pointed out such as the alley featured in the Harry potter films, after the tour we backed tracked, only a five min walk, to have a look. All in all a highly recommendable night out.

Of all the "Jack the Ripper" tours I saw advertised, "Ripping Yarns" that meets at quarter to 7 at Tower Hill station is by far the best. They take you through Whitechapel past most of the crime scenes, and their tour guides are extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and theatrical in their presentation (ours was Dickie, who by day guards the Tower of London). It lasts a good 2 1/2 hours, and you pay only at the end if you are satisfied. Plus they keep the groups rather SMALL, so its not like these giant hoard tours that don't spend much time in Whitechapel at all.

“Informative, educational, fantastic value for money, but most of all, FUN!

Have been to London a few times but this Jack the Ripper, The Tour from Hell, with Dickie as the leader introduced us to a whole new London! The group was reasonably small, Dickie was very charismatic (a Beefeater at The Tower of London by day, I believe). The other tours that we passed along the way seemed to have twice as many people in the group. And we only had to pay at the end of the tour if we were happy with it, which we all certainly were! And at £7 for 2.5 hours entertainment, I would gladly recomend this tour, real value for money, extremely informative and just great fun.

A great evening's entertainment. Would strongly recommend and will probably do again sometime. Very professionally run. We had booked with another tour company whose guide failed to appear so we turned up, a group of 12 lads on a stag night. all actors, some in work and some not but all in costume ( and at that time sober) and Simon welcomed us to his group and mawe the evening very memorable. Thanks Simon

We went with Jimmy on the Jack the Ripper tour last Friday, 7th October and it was fantastic !!! The East End of London has a totally different air than the rest of London and Jimmy explained how it was in 1888 like he had been there and knew for himself. I was spellbound for the whole 2 and a half hours as he explained about The ripper, and he left us to make up our own mind as to who e thought had carried out these horrific murders. I learned so much in such a short time and wish lessons at school at been so mesmerizing.
Truly a great combination of sights, sounds and mystery...... 10 out of 10 for Jimmy who made it such a wonderful experience and all for £7.

I had done a thorough homework on all the companies that do Jack the Ripper Walk before I chose RIPPING YARNS. First of all, they started bang on time without any hanging around ,making sure the group wasnt too big !

Our guide DICKIE works as beefeater in Tower during the day and takes people on jack the Ripper tours in the evenings. Dedicated to the core,he proved to be very detailed and informative. My boyfriend and I have read up a lot on Jack the Ripper but we learnt sooo much more on that evening !!! He mentioned it was his night to do the Jack the Ripper walking tour so we attended because we had liked him so much. We did not regret it! “Fantastic walking tour of Jack the Ripper's haunts.”

The walking tour we took was offered by the Yeomen from the Tower of London. They are as informed about Jack the Ripper as they are of the Tower of London. They meet every evening at 6:45 in front of the Tower Hill Tube Station which can be reached by using the District or Cirlcle tube line train. They hold their sign which says "Ripping Yarns Ltd" so you go with the right group. They tell "yarns" of the conditions of the time, the habits of the women and men of the area. They welcome all questions and offer insights into the investigations of Jack the Ripper murders. The walk lasts two hours and ends back at the Tower Hill Staion. It was the BEST 7 pounds we spent sightseeing.

I had no idea where to grab a tour, but knew I wanted to go on one and that most of them started around 7 near the Tower Hill tube stop. How convenient to find Jimmy standing there at 6:30 holding a sign! I didn't have to wander around, looking for a shop or anything.

The tour was great, very informative with a very nice delivery. It wasn't cheesy or silly, just great facts and a great tour of all the sites to go along with it. Thanks! Well worth the 7 pounds!

We wanted to email and say that we had such a great time on the tour tonight (21/09/11)!! Even though we have both seen various documentaries on Jack the Ripper we have never seen it told the way it was tonight and have learnt so much more! Our guide, Jimmy, is an amazing story teller and has a great sense of humour, we didnt even notice how far we had walked and talked about the tour for quite sometime after we left!
Please thank Jimmy for making our last night in London so memorable!

WE DID THE TOUR ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT(14TH SEPT). KEN THE GUIDE WAS FUNNY AND KNOWLEDGEBLE ON THE SUBJECT OF JACK THE RIPPER. THE TOUR LAST ABOUT 2 HOURS,TAKING YOU TO THE WHITECHAPEL AREA OF THE EASTEND WHERE JACK HUNTED. IF YOU ARE IN LONDON FOR A FEW DAYS, I WOULD DO THIS TOUR EARLY ON IN YOUR VISIT SO YOU CAN GO BACK TO THE AREA, ESPECIALLY BRICK LANE AND SPITAL FIELDS MARKET (TUESDAY/THURSDAY AFTERNOON).

f you want to do a tour in London- I highly recommend this one! It was so much fun and so interesting! The tour guide we had works on Wednesday nights usually and he was the BEST! He was very much into the chilling tale and really got us into the mood of the horror of Jack the Ripper. Walking around London and seeing the areas where all the murders happened was very chilling- especially as dusk went to dark. I was truly impressed and would recommend this to any and everyone!
Also, you don't have to pay up front- you pay at the end whatever you feel was deserved to the tour guide- which I thought was a really great idea.

One of the best tours I have Ever done.

the Jack the Ripper Tour by Ripping Yarns leaves at 6:45 at night from outside the Tower Bridge Tube Station. Our guide was funny, informative & showed us all around Whitechapel where in 1888 the Jack the Ripper murders took place. The pace of the tour was nice and it only cost 7 pounds (and that is only if you thought our guide did a good job), payable at the end of the tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in Jack the Ripper or even if you are not, because by the end of the tour you will be (like my wife was... she now wants to get a book from the library on the subject).

I went on this tour a few weeks ago and at the time thought it was fantastic but had nothing to compare it to. I then did some reading up on Jack the Ripper and went back and did a second tour with another company. It was only then that I truly realised how good these guys really were!! After I paid up front for the other company we were taken to a completely random site not 2 minutes from Tower Hill tube and told that we would not be going to Whitechapel, nor would we be seeing 3 of the 5 murder scenes! Added to that the guide did not know many of the few facts that are known about the murders and I even had to tell him the location of a pub that he said he could not find!!

At the end of the day, go with these guys. It is by far the best tour around.

Our guide was also a Tower of London Warder...and those guys can spin a yarn! The tour was a bit of walking mixed with stops at important places along the path that Jack the Ripper bloodied in the fall of 1888. This is one tour not to be missed and well worth the money!

This tour was by far the best value for money in London! Our tour guide, Dickie, took us around all the sights, explaining in detail about the Ripper and his victims, how the places looked at the time, along with photographs and documents to help you visualise the scenes. His information was not only detailed, he was funny and entertaining but not boring at all. He also pointed out other things in the area of interest and made sure everyone got back to where they needed to be at the end. You book on the basis of paying at the end of the tour, but we were all happy to pay more than the £7 charged. The tour takes around 2 - 2.5 hours so you get plenty for your money. If your into this kind of thing, these are the guys to do it with.

A Jack the Ripper walking tour seemed like it could be a tourist trap-- gimmicky, silly, a waste of money. Not so! Our guide was Chris, an off-duty Yeoman Warder with a real passion for studying the Ripper murders. He avoids sensationalism and silliness, and lets the facts create their own drama. The tour explores all corners of the Whitechapel District in the East End, stopping at the sites of the murders, churches, pubs, and alleys that played key roles in the murders. Equal parts entertaining and educational, this tour was an exceptional value at only 7 pounds. Definitely recommended.

A group of us did this tour last week having been left behind by another group! Turned out to be a good thing as Dicky was an entertaining, funny and very knowledgeable guide! He pointed out all the points, told the story well and provided pics on most things. He looked after every person and we were more than happy to pay more that 7 quid at the end! Would recommend it to anyone and do it again!

Was in London for Business went on the tour with some folks from work. Dickie was our guide. He was excellent. Very knowledgeable, happy to answer questions, great energy and wonderful story telling. We aren't big Ripper fans just thought it would be a fun, creepy thing to do after work and would let us see another part of the city. While the walk is long (2.5 hours) you won't notice it because it's so entertainly. Our guide pointed out other interesting sites too (Charles Dickens school, Val Kilmer's former house, etc.). So good flavor or history and current affairs in the White Chapel area. We enjoyed the tour so much that we are doing to see Dickie at the Tour of London to get another tour with him. On top of this the price was very inexpensive - they could and would charge double or triple for this quality of tour in the US.

what a great walk. Nearly two and a half hours of entertainment and education. Plenty of background social and economic history, not just the ripper story. Went with our ten year old who followed all the detail, though chose not to look at the victim photos, and did not end up with nightmares. Great use of maps and photos to help fill in the background. Would recommend to anyone

Whilst visiting tower of London with my 12 year old son, this walk advertised during visit there so went on this tour after visiting TOL.
Tour guide was Dickie, and his delivery was great...he was our guide at TOL,,,very informative...funny and excellent delivery.
It was good to be close to the action of the ripper action so to speak! It was good to do this tour at this time of year as it was dark after 8 o'clock which added to the ambience.
The pictures/photos also filled in the gaps.
Make sure you go to the toilet prior...cos it's a long walk!
I thought 2.5 hrs was gonna be too long, but it wasn't, we enjoyed every minute, glad I wore flat shoes...
A must for Jack the Ripper 'fans'...you know what I mean...!

We walked last night from Tower Hill Tube Station all the way through Whitechapel and back again, guided by Dicky Dover, a Beefeater from the Tower of London. At every stop along the way, he gave us details of the Jack the Ripper case, pointed out landmarks tied to each of the murders (not to mention showing us Diagon Alley as seen in Harry Potter!) An outstanding value for £7! I would highly recommend this walking tour.

I live in London and did this tour with a mate visiting from NZ. We picked it cos of the pay- at -end- if -you- think- it's -worth -it policy - we thought it suggested confidence and genuineness. We were right, and had a great time. The guide was superb, full of historical knowledge, enthusiastic and had great rapport with the group. He really brought the info to life and we felt quite 'close to the action' visiting the scenes of the crime and being encouraged to imagine the areas in victorian era. I saw this part of town in a whole new light. The tour is factual and naturally is a gruesome whodunnit but is quite respectfully told and not gratuitous for sake of shocking the audience. The storytelling is skillful and tension builds - we were hooked. My mate likes nothing better than to take loads of photos, and often found herself at the back of the group but Barney our guide was really good at not rushing us and not starting the next installment until we'd all gathered - it was really well paced. He also was happy to answer our questions about the case and also kindly about his day job as a beefeater back at the tower of london. I am recommending this tour to visitors and Londoners alike - well worth more than the £7 requested. And your guide will return you to the starting point at the tube so you are well orientated and not left stranded anywhere unfamiliar. Superb - do it! (suggest you do what we did and tag it onto afternoon spent exploring the tower of london first).

I've been on 2 Jack the RIpper tours and fell that this one was far better than the other, The guide was humorous with just enough theatrics, facts and photos to make it a great evening. I hear he is creating a new tourt to be based around the origination of nursery rhymes. Can't wait to go on that one as well.

I have been on this tour twice now, once with a friend and once with my girlfriend. Both times have been excellent. The professionalism and insight that the tour guides give really is fantastic. For just £7.00 the tour is fantastic value for money.

The guides on both occasions have been really good fun and because they are all Yeomen warders (Beefeaters) from the tower of London, they are really approachable and are always inviting you to ask questions and engage with the story.

The last tour i did with my girlfriend, we even went to the pub with the guide (Dickie) afterwards and had a great chat about being a beefeater, the ripper and military life in general.

We had a tour from Mr. Barney and it was really brilliant. This man really knows how to tell a story. Although the tour lasts at least two hours, time flies when you walk around Whitechapel. I truly recommend this experience to everyone.

We went on the tour on July 7 and loved it! Steve was an excellent guide and he made it fun while not sparing us the grisly details and horrific nature of the murders. He really brought it to life. I looked at some of the other tour groups in the area that night and it was obvious that our group was having the best time. What an incredibly exciting tour to cap off our trip to London. That is all due to our fantastically theatrical and hilarious tour guide- Dicky. He MADE the tour. Starting out by setting the eerie scene, leading us around London until it built to a heart-racing climax. At the end I felt as though I had lived through the experience as opposed to just learning about it. Would recommend this tour and Dicky to everyone visiting London!!!!

|Although we only live south of the thames, i had always wanted to do one of these walks, as any history interests me. It was great ! Dickie our guide was informative and funny. You knew immediatlely that this man knew his stuff. When you live in London you sometimes take it for granted. We never go East, although my dad was an 'Eastender'. It was not something you could do on your own, unless you knew the area and history well. Dickie made the trip with his insight of the ripper story and his general knowledge of london history.
Afterwards we made our way back to Brick lane and had a fantastic curry, in the restaurant that stands on the site of the 'old toms' local pub,and if you look up you can still see the sign.Thank you Dickie and ripping yarns, for a well priced and interesting evening. I will reccommend it to all my friends south of the water.

We joined a small group last Thursday (26/5), but our guide's enthusiasm was undiminished. The weather before had been showery so that may have contributed to the low turn out, although we were lucky and it stayed dry through the two hours or so. Ken was a great guide, animated and entertaining and very personable. Good fun and well worth GBP7.

Have wanted to do a Jack the Ripper tour for years and we were certainly not disappointed by our choice of guides.
Dickie was friendly, informative and added so much with his enthusiastic re-telling of the events of 1888. We were guided to all the places that features in this dastardly tale and event had other interesting features such as film locations pointed out too! I was attracted to this tour because of it length and its claim that you only pay for the tour at the end if completely satisfied. Well i cannot imagine anyone not being more than happy to pay for the experience and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Dickie for a wonderful, atmospheric and thoroughly entertaining evening.

Our Jack the Ripper Tour was an incredible journey to this deepest darkest and despairing facet of human history.
The Tour occurs at a lovely time of day in the City, but the intriguing but unlovely course of events darkens our spirits.
Finishing at the Pub to lift them back up is a good thing...

Dickie was absolutely captivating.

Our tour guide was Steve and to say that the tour was informative, interesting, and VERY VERY good would be under selling it somewhat!!

Where can you that for only £7.00 in this day and age, get a tour guide that for over 2 hours is highly informative on the subject matter, and can keep your smiles on-going with interaction of humour along the way???

Myself and my friends thoroughly enjoyed this tour and have no hesitation in recommending it.

We took the tour in January. It is absolutely fabulous. Dickie guided us through this part of London's history in a very compelling, interesting and entertaining way. He really made us feel history. Have you ever had coins in your hand that could have been in the hands of one of the people involved in the story? This would be your chance. It was one of our highlights during this trip - and we'll definitely do the tour again when we come back to London. Thank you very much.

I would highly recommend the tour to anyone (especially to any history students) I am a history student myself and found the social history fascinating. There is not really much more to say except...GO ON THIS TOUR!

We have been at the beginning of January on the tour and we fully enjoyed it! Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and he talked about Jack the Ripper with such a vivid voice full of suspense that we actually could imagine being at the crime scenes. All in all, it has been a one of a kind experience! Thank you!
Oh, and if you thought there was no connection between Jack the Ripper, Harry Potter and The Pet Shop Boys, I strongly suggest this tour.. you will know better afterwards!
Greets!

My sister and I have been planning our trip to Europe for so long now and one of the things I'm most excited about is this tour! If I could put more of my time into it I'd surely become a ripperologist! haha We are very excited about this tour though and look forward to seeing you all there!!

While on our trip to London we knew that we wanted to do a "Jack" tour. During our visit at the Tower of London we ran into Mark, one of the guides, and he told us we should check his group out. In lieu of some of the other tours, we decided to attend this one --- and we're certainly glad we did. Ken was our guide for the evening, and brought not only interesting stories about Jack and London, but excitement and passion to the history. Ken was great, and we felt safe the whole time. He not only got the group to join in, but also jump from some surprises! In any case, special thanks to Mark and Ken for the suggestion and the tour. We really learned a lot, and had a wonderful time. This really is the best Jack the Ripper tour in London - don't bother with the others.

We went on this tour last week, and must say it was excellent very informative our leader was Ken, he not only told the Jack the Ripper Story but he did it with passion and feeling. Walking around the east end is chilling enough but when you are listening to these gruesome murders brilliant. We recommend this tour. You will not be dissapointed. See you next time JACK?

We took the tour this evening nov 6. It was very interesting and our guide steve was lovely. His jokes kept us entertained but also his story telling was by far amazing. Always wanted to learn more about Jack and Steve has now filled my mind with lots of amazing real life facts about jack and the murders. Spine chilling to think we were retracing the steps of the notorious murderer but also seeing some of the murder sites. The old frying pan pub was amazing to see the old sign, long live the history of London.

We did the tour on the evening of Saturday 30 October, and we loved it!! Dickie is a GENIUS, very informative, entertaining, incredibly fun. I did a similar tour with another company a couple of years abroad when a friend was on a visit to London, and although I thought it was pretty good at the time, Saturday's was so much better! I would recommend it to everyone visiting London, either from abroad or from elsewhere in the UK. You will learn not only about Jack the Ripper, but also get lots of information on London hidden corners. Did I mention Dickie was great? Well, he was: BRILLIANT!! :-)

Me and my parnter had wanted to do a Jack the Ripper tour for ages and finally managed to pick one and went along on the 23rd October... So glad we found this site! Our tour guide was Dickie and he really knew his stuff (and even threw in a few random non-Ripper facts as we went along). The tour was much longer than others we had looked at and seemed to go places other tours didn't...and had much smaller groups so it was more personal.

Would definately recommend this tour, well worth the money!

Paul & Cj, Leeds
we attended the tour with our guide Ken, this was by far the best tour we have ever been on and at £7 makes the 4 pennys paid to sleep in a coffin sized bed in the 1800s seem quite expensive !! we thoroughly enjoyed our tour and Ken came across as not only a very proffessional and knowlegable guy but also a warm and friendly man who told the story with passion and great understanding of the subject matter, he ensured we always stayed together and encouraged participation from the group and i came away with a real understanding of not only Jack the ripper but of times gone by in the East End and how life was conducted all those historical years ago, on completion we were either given directions to our next destination or escorted back to Tower Hill where we first met. Well done Ken and your team for providing the best tour by far and we will definately be booking again the next time we are lucky enough to visit London.

We done this tour last month with ken who was our guide and must state that he was excellent and very proffesional. The tour that he gave us was very informative and even if you did not know a lot about jack the ripper and the east end you will remember after this.

We did the Jack the Ripper tour on Saturday 2nd October. Simon our guide was excellent and kept us very entertained with his knowledge of Jack and his crimes. And even though the heavens decided to open half way rounds the dark streets of Whitechapel it didn't deter him and we had a fabulous night. I would highly recommend anyone to do this tour... a right ripping yarn it was!!!!

I have to admit that although a Liveryman and a Freeman of the City of London, I have never been on a "Jack the Ripper" tour .
My Daughter and boyfriend decided to take me on the tour as part of a birthday gift, and it was a really great expierance. I not only found it interesting but great fun.
Congratulations to Dickie who kept us all under control and was a very entertaining tour leader.
Thanks for a great night, and I will look upun this area of London in a new light.

We took the tour on Sunday 26th September. Chris was our guide and was absolutely brilliant. Even though I was born and lived in the Eastend I wanted my partner (who is scottish) to experience a part of London that facinates him , as does the ripper. I have never taken the tour before either and found it very interesting . I loved chris's enthusiasm. I would recommend it to anyone , well worth the money!

I took the tour on Sun 19 Sept and it exceeded all expectations! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, providing lots of insight into the crimes and life in the city at the time of the murders. He made it a fun ‘who done it’ evening, a real murder mystery for the group to solve from the clues provided as we made our way through the dark and spooky streets of Whitechapel. Great value for money, I’ve already recommended this tour to family and friends as a must do :-)

We thought that the tour was fantastic. Very informative and the best tour given. Dickie was an excellent tour guide and we recommend him to anyone else that wants to take the tour. Now ill be able to use all this useful information in my GCSE history exam. Thanks Dickie! - i better pass ;)

Went on the tour on the 10 Sept 2010 with Dickie as our guide the amount of knowledge about the ripper that Dickie passed on was much more than expected and THIS tour goes into Whitechapel not around the edge. I would say this tour is a must and don't be put off by the walk it's not a route march.

Had a great time with ken the other night on jack the riper tour. he was entertaining and told us things of the east end as well. the sights and smells of the east end are amazing and the rats really looked real. have told all our friends.

I went on the tour on Friday 10th September and Dickie was our guide. I found it to be great fun - factual, informative (I learnt a lot) and inspiring (I'm now reading a book on JTR!).

Dickie was a terrific guide. Warm, welcoming, very knowledgeable and very witty too. I love the ethos of not having to pay until the end of the tour, or at all if you didn't enjoy it. My only regret now is that I didn't tip him!

Highly recommended. In fact, I've recommended to a few people already!

Me and a couple of friends went on this tour last night and I have to say it was well worth the time, travel and money. Our tour guide was a lovely chap named Dickie who was very humourous, knowledgable and with his story-telling brought the legacy that is Jack the Ripper to life. He was factual, clear and took us to the key locations which makes this tour a winner for me. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone and would particularly say to ask for Dickie as the tour guide as he was friendly, kind and gave each of the murders a factual but chilling run down. This tour brings the history of London to life!

Thanks Dickie for the great time!

The tour was amazing, so good now I'm off back to college to do a project on Jack the Ripper... so interesting and the information given was great, made us feel like we were back in 1888 walking down the same streets as Jack. Absolutely fantastic.

Went on the tour Saturday 28th August, Steve was our guide. He was very knowledgable regarding both Jack the Ripper and the surrounding areas. He was funny and tried his best to make the mood light, considering it was raining. Fantastic tour, would definately reccommend!!!! But next time I will definately take an umbrella to avoid getting wet :)

Dickie was a great guide, knowledgeable, cheerful and welcoming on the anniversary of the first of the murders in Whitechapel. I've been on a number of these tours over the years with different operators, and I have to say the Ripping Yarns tour is by far the best thought out and factual. That said...

The guides state the murders happened at weekends - Polly was killed on a Thursday night/Friday morning, as was Mary Kelly. Not *quite* the weekend...

I'll see you next year on the anniversary. And yes, I'll bring some more flowers for Polly.

This is the tour for you! I'd done one other Ripper tour with a bunch of work colleagues, and so came along to the East End trek with guide Dickie expecting more of the same. How wrong was I? Very. Here's a guide who gives an incisive, gripping and entertaining presentation of events in the Autumn of 1888. He takes you to the key spots, Buck's Row, Mitre Square, Dorset Street, George's Yard (what's left of it), Spittalfields Market, and St Botolph's Without Aldgate (some of those names have since changed) and many others. If you're after a rip-roaring yarn told by an informed, audible guide and mingled with the still-lingering smell of the East End mean streets, then look no further.

We'd like to say thank you to Simon who was our Tour Guide on 7th August 2010. He was very entertaining, knowledgeable and made the 2 1/2 hour tour fly by. We had a great time and would definately reccomend this tour to other people who have an interest in Jack the Ripper or Victorian history in London. Although we had some knowledge of Jack the Ripper, Simon was able to tell us facts we had not heard before and his story was accompanied by interesting handouts and photos from the actual case. Many thanks again.

What a gem! Chose this Ripper walk because of the rave reviews and it did not disappoint. Had a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining walk with Dickie, the brilliant tour guide. He took us through the streets of the East End with not only stories about the Ripper but lots of other fascinating stuff about the area. This walk is a MUST if like me you have East End family history as Dickie really sets the scene of Victorian London. What was exceptional about this tour, was that Dickie (unlike so many other tour guides in London) had so much enthusiasm and really seemed to enjoy what he was doing and that is what makes this walk stand out. You pay at the end of the tour and before you start you wonder whether people will drift off, this was not the case, everyones attention was held from the start to finish and we all gladly paid our £7 each which was £7 very well spent. Would definately recommend.

16th July 2010 - What a fantastic start to our weekend in London. We had picked up a leaflet for this tour the last time we were in London, you read so much about the events of 1888 in Whitechapel but I always wondered what the streets were actually like and how did someone get away with such grissly crimes. We were not disppointed with the tour - it was great. Dickie our tour guide had a wealth of local knowledge, he was fun and just a genuine nice guy. Thanks Dickie for a great evening we have already recommended the tour to a number of our friends.

I went on the ripper tour last week whilst in London. I cannot give to high a praise the guy who took around was called Ken. He was very informative about Jack the Ripper, subject knowledge was exellent and he gave information on the area and other pieces of information that made our trip go a lot better. I reccommend this tour now to all my friends. Trust me for £7 you cannot get better deal for money. Ken Thanks for a great time.

I had to get on here and share my experience about this tour. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Myself and three other grad students went on this tour and had a great time. Our tour guide was Dickie, and he is the man. The guy gave us a rather creepy tour, but was also quite hilarious.

I would definitely recommened this tour and recommend Dickie. There were probably 20-30 people on our tour, and our guide did a good job at engaging everyone and keeping everyone close and making sure everyone had a good time. When I bring family back to London to visit we will go on this tour and request. Dickie. Thanks guy!

I am writing this note now to tell you of the EXCEPTIONAL experience I had at the Tower of London. I spent a great deal of time there and took a tour with a
Beefeater named Dickie Dover. He was exceptional (as I'm sure all of your men
are).
The knowledge I recieved at the tour was informative, good natured, and simply all around wonderful.
My experience was so brilliant, that I decided on the spot to change my plans for the day just so I could be back in time for him to give the Ripping Yarns tour later that evening.

I had not planned on doing this before hand. Once
again, it exceeded my expectations. I was truly honored to spend the evening again with Dickie and be given another truthful, honest, historically accurate all around splendid tour.

Additionally, Dickie spent time talking with me (I tend to hang near the front...especially when traveling alone). I expressed to him that when not traveling I spend my time in the US working as a science teacher.

As I currently had no "official" plans for my time in London he offered what turned out to be some of the greatest advice of my trip.

He recommended that I take one of my days and head down to one of his favorite areas...Greenwich. I walked away with more knowledge than I thought possible, my picture on the Prime Meridian, and splendid photos of the former Brittish Naval College. It was one of my second most favorite days in London (only the day I spent at the tower on Dickies tour was better)!

Additionally, as I mentioned before, I was traveling alone. I obviously I booked a hotel (on the cheaper side) and was unsure if It was in a very safe neigborhood.
Dickie asked whereabouts I was staying at and gave me good solid information that made me feel safer about where I was staying (The Chelsea Guest House near Vauxhall station).

It put my mind at ease and I enjoyed my London experience ever so much more.

Please give Dickie my sincerest gratitude (print this and give it too him if at all possible...or put it in a personell file as well!). I am so honored to have spent time on both his tours and Iam deeply in debt to all of you for the peace of mind and exceptional experience I recieved.

Many many thanks! Dara Rosenberg

PS... I have also sent a letter to Rick Steve's USA guide book which I know you had him on your tour reciently and I hope he knows what a fab tour this is!! and he keeps it in the next edition!

This tour is awesome!! I would highly recommend it to people travelling to london and for people who live in london. Kevin was a great tour guide because he REALLY got into the story and kept everyone interested. He asked questions and put people on the spot when you least expect it which really made the tour because he really got into it!! Although the weather was rainy I had a blast so if you are looking for something different to do, I def recommend this!!

I certainly learned a few things and I know that all of us will be recommending the tour. Many thanks again for a wonderful time. Kindest regards,Kelly.

Thursday 29th April 2010 tour - Kev was an excellent Guide and Master of Ceremonies. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour that made well-known streets and city landmarks come to life in the Victorian times.

Suzanne, Canada
My girlfriends and I from Canada did the Jack the Ripper tour on Sunday April 25th with Ken and we were definitely impressed with everything he told us about 'Jack'. He had a way of keeping our attention as he continued to tell the story... he even spooked us a few times with his loud frightening comments!! Other tour guides walked by with dull, boring approach - Ken made it exciting and mysterous!! Highly recommended and VERY satisfied with the tour!! I would absolutely recommend it to ANYONE who's in for some mysterous and exciting fun - it's a must see in London to us.

I came down to London on the 19th of April just for this sort of thing and well, I got 100% more than I expected. The very lovely, (and far better looking than Johnny Depp I might add! ;) ) Chris was our guide. He was fantastic at setting the scene and knew so much about the Ripper and the history surrounding it I was litterally hanging on his every word. He only gets marked down for taking the micky out of me being a Manchester girl! Other than that, 10 out of 10 on all fronts! I seriously recommend it to wannabe ripperologists and the mundanely curious alike and I won't hesitate to come again the next time I come down, thank you!

21 April 2010

ANDY LEWIS, BRISTOL
WENT ON THE TOUR LAST WEEK ( 12/04 ),A REALLY ENJOYABLE AND INTERESTING WALK. DICKIE WAS SUPERB, HE DIDN'T JUST TALK HE ENTERTAINED AND INFORMED US NOT ONLY ABOUT THE RIPPER BUT LOCAL KNOWLEDGE AND HISTORY ALSO. WOULD RECOMMENDED THIS TOUR ABOVE ANY OTHER. NOT SURE I TOTALLY AGREE WITH DICKIE AS TO WHO JACK REALLY WAS, BUT IF WE ALL AGREED THERE WOULD BE NO MYSTERY.

16 April 2010

Ana, Essex
I loved our tour. Dickie, our guide was amazing---he made the tour extremely fun with his wit and at the same time we were learning so much from all the information.

I would absolutely recommend this tour; you will not only be educated about the Jack the ripper murders but you will have a blast doing it...

Remember...6:45 pm^_^

14 April 2010

Great evening , would recommend this to anyone, very good value for money.
Dickie our guide should have been a actor he put so much
effort into everything he said it brought the whole Jack the Ripper story to life. I learnt alot about where old sayings came from, which now make sence. If your thinking of doing this tour just do it!! or you will miss a great night out.
Thanks again Dickie.

12 April 2010

I've been interested in Jack the Ripper for a long time and the tour was fantastic! I learnt lots of new things about Victorian London and the murders and it was so interesting to see all the sites of where the girls were actually found. I went on Fri 9th April, and our tour guide was Kev. He was so interesting and had some good jokes too! Would really recommend the tour to anyone, and for £7, I thought it was excellent value! Many thanks!

I went on the tour on the 9th April with my mum, it was bloody fantastic (no pun intended)! We had Kev, he was amazing and really made it feel like we were in 1888. When i came away from the tour I had goosebumps everywhere even in my bones, but it was a great feeling!! I would recommend this to everyone!! DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!!

Caroline Jennett, Potters Bar, Herts
I went on the tour last night with my partner and my two teenage boys. It was great, we learned where the expression 'ten bells of sh**' comes from, the origins of 'rule of thumb' and why prostitutes are known as 'Toms'. Dickie, our guide, was great! As well as all the London knowledge, he kept the Americans informed as to where their Liberty Bell was made, and where the tea boxes for the Boston tea party came from. And we were taken right into the heart of Whitechapel, very atmospheric! My only criticism is that Dickie said he would tell us why Mary Kelly was able to run up six weeks arrears of rent, but I can't remember him saying. Is it a ploy to get us on another tour?? Please tell me! Thanks very much, it was a great end to our day out!

05 April 2010

Camille, Toulouse, France
I did the tour last Tuesday with Kevin. I was with my boyfriend and we both found it great! (despite the cold and the intermittent rain!) It was very funny and also very informative. We really appreciated seeing some of the sites we knew the name of but had ever been to like the Ten Bells or Miller's Court (even Diagon Alley, which was a delightful surprise !).
I was advised to do this tour by one of my friends who did it, and I am not disappointed! I will definitely tell other people to go too. Thank you very much, Kevin!

I did the Jack the Ripper Tour on Wednesday 24th March with Dickie. What a fantastic tour, gripping to the end and also a fantastic tour guide who certainly knew the subject inside out and added lots off little extras as a bonus.
I will certainly do this tour again when family come to stay from Canada. I know they will all thoroughly enjoy it and so will I.

26 March 2010

Gavin, Neath, Wales
Brilliant tour of the east end that really gave a true depiction of life in the 19th century. Endless facts and stats of the ripper mystery that filled all the gaps that other stories and documentaries have lacked. Dickie not only had a limitless knowledge of the ripper story, but this tour was also full of historical facts about London and the way the city has grown and changed through time. Don't let a wet drizzly night put you off, it adds to the occasion. Brilliant.

25 March 2010

Sarah Schofield, Southend, Essex
I have just returned from one of the Jack the Ripper tours with this group, and arranged a private tour with 45 people.

Wow is all I can say, our guide "Dickie" what a fab guy and very very informative, he did not slip up at all with his talk, it just flowed from his mouth.

I will be recommending this to all my friends via facebook and even other groups I run in London.

It is worth every penny of the £7 each and what a great form of exercise, 2 1/4 hours of walking around the dark streets of London. I did at one point wish I was back in the times of Jack the Ripper, but it was only at the mention of the GIN!

Well done Dickie and thank you to your company for such an enjoyable trip.

We will see you soon with more victims! hahahaha

25 March 2010

Soo and Ian, Essex
Can highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in old London and, of course, Jack the Ripper. We've read the books, seen the films and watched the documentaries but Dickie brought fresh insight, humour (those well timed pauses) and kept us all (40+ in the group) riveted for the whole tour.

My husband and I had been to London previously and done a Jack the Ripper walking tour with one of the other companies. On this trip we brought our teenage daughter, who wanted to to a Ripper tour. We decided to go with Ripping Yarns and I have to say, we were not disappointed. Our guide, Chris, gave us an amazing experience. We had a large crowd, and every person on that tour paid at the end. Thanks Chris -- you were great!

22 March 2010

We did the tour last night 16/03/2010 and we both had a lovely night. The tour was extremely interesting and gave lots of information. Our guide Steve was really helpful and added humour to keep things light hearted. It was good to do the tour of the sites in the right order as other tours don,t. Will definately be recommending this tour to others. Thanks for a fascinating night Steve. Ruth and Steve.

Ryan & Nicki, Northampton,England
We were fortunate enough to have gone on the tour last night and we both agreed that 'Dickie' was fantastic, he really made you confident with his nowledge in the subject and his humour made it also feel light hearted
We would recommend this over any other Ripper tour because as Dickie himself said the others dont go close enough to the murder sites or in the right order!

07 March 2010

Donna & Angela Galway, Poole, Dorset
This was a great tour and as cold and tired as we were 'Dickie' kept our attention to the max, with his great stoying telling ability, and some light hearted humor and plenty of good factual information, pictures to take you back to 1888, it was a great tour and highly recommended.

The tour was really nice, Dickie, walked us through the small alleys and not only explained the murders but also told us really interesting facts about the history of the White Chapel.

Definitely worth the 7 pounds, if you do it though, better be wearing comfortable shoes, lots of layers and be prepared for a long walk!

03 March 2010

Pat Varney, Guildford Surrey
8 of us went on this tour on 27th Feb and whilst the weather was damp and cold, we had a fantastic time. Our guide was very funny and made a serious business lighthearted. Walked down streets one wouldn't normally go and really got the feel of the old London. Brilliant and well worth every penny - not to be missed. One word of warning - try not to walk around London all day before the tour!!

We had an amazing night and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour in dark, cold Whitechapel. Chris was a FANTASTIC guide with a great sense of humour and an amazing knowledge of all things London. He really set the scene of 1880s London and is clearly extremely passionate about his job. I learnt a lot more than I expected and appreciated he was open to giving advice about different aspects of London. I will be recommending this tour to everyone I know in London. Thank you so much!

After an overnight flight and all day touring, I was determined to see the Jack the Ripper tour on my first night in London, despite the frigid cold.
And the tour was well worth it. Chris was a great guy, funny, knowledgable and a great storyteller. I've read a lot of Jack the Ripper books but still picked up some new information and it was great to finally put the locations into some perspective.
Had a great cold night and can't wait to do it again some day.

My sisters and I went on the tour on Sunday night, Jan. 3. Our tour guide was Dickie - absolutley wonderful! He was great at leading the group, speaking loudly enough, and making the tour so very interesting! It was very cold that night, but it was well worth walking around where the murders took place for over two hours. It was a very interesting tour but I do think that Dickie made it extra special.

Comments:
My son paid for me to go on this tour as a birthday treat and our guide was Dickie, who was terrific. His knowledge of London is formidable and he made everyone feel like the detectives that very night. We came away with a real sense of how life was for many folk just a hundred years ago and the appalling deprivation in the East End. How many guides bring along memorabilia like coins, photographs etc and we came away knowing much more about one of the greatest cities in the world [ours!] and all of my party felt it was superb value for just seven pounds.

26 December 2009

Kev, you are a great guide. We enjoyed the tour so much, that we haven't even felt the cold weather (really cold indeed)!
Hope to take another tour with you next time with more friends. We learnt a lot about London.
Have a great 2010!

I loved our tour last night, it was brilliant.
Kev made it REAL with his sense of suspense, his wit and his props. We had a fab time and were so impressed by the amount of details, passion and enthusiasm Kev brought to us.
Thanks Kevin, we had a fabber time and feel a bit more knowledgeable about JRP (Liked that portrait at the end)

A fantastic tour, informative and interesting and didn't know where the time went. Simon, our tour guide, was superb, and we can't recommend his tour enough. If the other guides are only half as good as he was, it would still be a great tour. Particularly liked the trivia about the area Simon told us, he obviously has a great passion and enthusiasm for his work, which was infectious. Thanks for a great evening.

17 December 2009

Sam Swanton, Chichester
Fantastic experience, well worth 2 hours in the snow and rain, which added to the atmosphere anyway. Simon the guide was exceptionally entertaining and informative, and we picked up all sorts of other interesting information from him - I now know where Diagon Alley is and how the Victorians stopped hansom cabs crushing pedestrians!! Two of your rival tours were on our heels, and we certainly seemed to be having the best time!! Thanks, would definitely do it again. Thanks to Simon - a great evening!

The tour was absolutely excellent. It was informative, fun and cleverly devised. Our guide was equally superb; he was thoroughly well versed in his subject, possessed of wonderful public-speaking skills and the inclusion of the information cards regularly passed around the group was a lovely touch. The stop off at the pub was also warmly received! All in a great way to start an evening”. Matt W

fantastic tour that completely engages you from the off. Dickie is a superb guide who through his wealth of knowledge and excellent delivery manages to re-create a real sense of what 19th century London would have been like whilst fully immersing you in the case of Jack the Ripper. Re-told in every lurid, gory detail, along with amusing asides, this tour manages to be both incredibly informative and brilliantly entertaining. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get here to give my comments ... life on the road is so busy!
We did the tour on 14th October 2009 and had a ball. Our guide was Kevin and I was the perfect stooge for him ... never failing to jump, twitch or gve a nervous scream as he told his wonderful tale ... peppered with jokes, props and lots of detailed knowledge about the events and the period. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and were delighted when we joined a tour of a nearby 'world famous World Heritage site' to discover Kevin in his daytime role was to be our guide. On both occasions he was very entertaining and informative. Thanks Kevin!

We did the tour on Friday 4th Dec, and our guide was Dickie.
The tour was excellent and Dickie was really informative, as well as being quite humourous! The cold, dark damp weather on the night gave it an extra eerie feel.
Well worth the money - I can't imagne anyone wouldn't enjoy it, but it's a nice touch that you only have to pay at the end of the evening.

We took our tour on 25th November with Dicky our guide. Very enjoyable and informative evening and I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone. Unsure about Dicky's opinion of who the ripper actually was however........ I won't spoil the surprise for anyone looking to take the tour!

Me and my boyfriend joined the tour on the 20th of November. The tour was scary, funny and fascinating at the same time. Really something I can recommend to anyone who is visiting London! Especially this tour since no booking is needed in advance, so you can pick whatever evening suits you best.
Kevin, in case you read this; thanks for the great evening!!!

On Saturday 21st November my girlfriend and I were in London to celebrate her Birthday. She's always liked murder and mystery and whilst we had alot of plans for London we were both looking forward to this tour. It was cold and rain fell hard however the tour was fantastic. The Guide was very friendly and you could easliy tell that he had a love for what he was showing - the 2 hours soon passed.

Between talks I took in what other guides were saying as we passed and all i can say is that we made the right choice as the other guides sounded like they were reading from a script and just going through the motions.

My Girlfriend and I thought we knew alot about Jack The Ripper but by the end of this tour I promise you, you will know Jack..... Guys thanks for a Great experience that still has left me thinking today and has left me wanting to read more into the Ripper History.

An even bigger crime than that of the Ripper would be anyone who doesn't feel they should pay at the end of the tour because this was money well spent for us.

Went on the tour on sunday 22 november with tourguide Dicky and i can say it was an absolute blast. Intriguing and interesting. Highly recommended. Having always wanted to do the Jack the Ripper Tour I wasn't dissappointed when some friends and I got together for the tour on Tuesday 3rd November 2009. Our guide was Kev who was very informative but also very funny. We saw other tour groups on our way with so many people in, it was good to be in a smaller group and be able to hear everything Kev was saying. Not having to book was a bonus as the weather had been very hit and miss all day but luckily for us it stayed dry! I would definitely recommend this to my friends and would do the tour again.

16 November 2009

I have always wanted to do the Jack the Ripper Tour and finally myself and a group of friends got organised to do the tour on Tuesday 3rd November 2009, our guide was Kev. It was the most fun I have ever had walking around scary haunts in London. The guide was extremely knowledgable of the area and the murders and was very entertaining. You really got a feel for what London would have been like for people in 1888. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and I would want to do this tour again.

Our guide Dickie was BRILLIANT!! The tour was probably the best part of our visit to London!!
Dickie kept us captivated the entire time with his jokes and is amazing story-telling skills!! Dickie also took the time to speak to us whilst walking between each murder scene etc.
He really brought the events to life for us and recited the story as though he was there himself.
It was definitely worth the £7!
If your looking for a Jack the Ripper Tour this is the one to do!! We will definitely be recommending this tour to our friends and family!
Thanks for a great evening Dickie!

Excellent value for money, Our guide Dickie was superb, I have done tours with other companies and this was by far the best. His use of period photos along with his thorough commentary gave you a better sense of Whitechapel as it was during that time. Ask for him, you won't be disappointed!
Easily the best 7 quid I spent the entire week!

03 November 2009

Having organised a work Hallowe'en themed evening, I was apprehensive that the speaker wouldn't be up to our form of wit.. I needn't have worried, Kevin was brilliant as a tour guide and one of our Partners even reported that he walked home spooked! Well done Kevin - we would have no hesitation in recommending your Walk to anyone.

27 October 2009

Sian, Bristol
Took this tour on Friday 23rd October and thoroughly enjoyed it! Chris was an excellent guide and managed to captivate my imagination and transport us back 1888. It was easy to imagine the streets as they were over 120 years ago even though Eastenders was playing on the TV in the building opposite! Would thoroughly recommend this tour and will be taking it again with other family members next time we are in London.

27 October 2009

Christine , London, UK
Dickey was a great tour leader. The tour was very informative about London (and Whitechapel specifically) in the 1800's in general. Although I thought the tour group was slightly big at first I could hear every word and never missed anything. The tour is a total of 2.5 hours (I think the longest of them all) and is jampacked with interesting facts - the first time I looked at my watch was 20 minutes before the end! Tour starts early 18h45 so you'll still get in bed at a decent hour. Thank you!!

26 October 2009

Angela, Essex
Thanks Steve
It was a great evening - still disagree about your suspect though!!

25 October 2009

We've been living in London for nearly 4 years and are about to head home. Despite our time here, we learnt so much about the history of London and Kevin was very captivating and made the tour fun. His delivery of telling the story Jack the Ripper was both entertaining and insightful. I highly recommend this tour.
Cheers Kevin!

Matt Day, Bow, London
I must say that my second tour was thoroughly as enjoyable as the first. (Sorry, Dickie, but Ken is very good at what he does as well ... ). The entertainment and education, not only about the murders, but the Victorian way of life during that time, is easily worth the tour price.
Thanks to both Ken and Mark for their professionalism and courtesy and special thanks to Ken for the unexpected bonus thrown in as well.

I'm not someone who is easily impressed so the Thursday 8th October tour with Kev the beefeater was a brilliat evening walk and tour of Whitechappel. Our interest was kept going with a mix of humour and story telling and the odd shock tactic (go on the tour to see what I mean!) you must go on this tour if you are in London, fantastic value and entertaiment

Peter and Jo Threlfall, Birkenhead, Wirral
We went on a Jack The Rpper Tour on Sat 3rd October, with Kevin, which was superbly put acoss to the group in such a professional and knowledgable way. He also injected a bit of humour into the tour, but always at the right times, and never disrespectful to the errible events of 1888. I consider myself to have a basic knowledge of those tragic deaths, but Kevin put a few spanners in my train of thought as to who I might have considered to be the murderer (I won't spoil it for anybody!). Absolutely fantastic, and would love to do it again.

Dickie was excellent I think he enjoyed telling the story as much as we all enjoyed hearing it. Although as Londoners we grew up with the story of Jack, Dickie brought it to life and made it seem all the more real - brilliant

Dickie was great - Thanks for a very informative tour.
I was worried I would not be able to hear as the group was quite large but I could hear every would of Dickies strangely familier voice.
Highly recomended.

While on holiday in London last week, I had the privilege of taking the tour with Steve on a cold, rainy night. I was glad I had my Wellies on, and that Steve was such an absolutely brilliant guide to make the most of the experience despite the rain. Not only was the tour informative, but Steve brought the facts to life with his wit and charm. I will be spreading the word from this side of the pond that everyone should take this tour when visiting London. Thanks, Steve!

09 September 2009

My friend and I have been meaning to do a "Ripper Tour" for ages and finally did on 08 September. We're so glad we picked this particular tour! Kevin, our guide, was really informative and very entertaining and knew lots about the area. The advert states that if you don't enjoy the tour, you don't have to pay but I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Highly recommended!

05 September 2009

James, 24, Tower Hill
As a new resident to the area I was interested by the signs i see reeguarly getting off the tube and along with my friend we decided to take the tour. Chris the tour guide was awesome, informatine , charasmatic and amusing.
All in all i would reccommend the tour to anyone, although the vivid descriptions of some of the murders did make me feel a little ill. However this added to the experience.

Just back from a vacation to London and Paris. I took the tour on June 24th with some students from the USA. Kev was our guide and he was fantastic. I have been on this tour before and Kev made it as interesting as if I had never heard the Ripper story. What I love about these guys is that they will give you so much more of the history of London, not just Ripper info. Thank you so much Kev!

28 June 2009

Liz Farrell & Anne-Marie Holmes, West Midlands
We went on the Tour on Friday 26th June, Kev was our guide and was excellent. He gave us the facts, took us to the murder sites or as near as he could, suggested possible suspects and gave us clues to let us make our own conclusions, of who the Ripper actually was. It was a very informative tour and we would recommend it to anyone wanting to find out about the Ripper killings.

28 June 2009

We did the tour on Friday 26th June 2009. Our tour guide was Kev. Kev you were a brilliant tour guide, you might need a bit of practise on your jokes (only kidding!) but we really enjoyed the tour with you. We will be recommending you to our friends, and we will be coming up again in the near future for another tour! See i told you i'd put a comment on the guest book and recommend you so that you wouldn't have to pay for the drinks at the end of year party!! If you need a few more guest book comments to beat the others, let us know!!!!
P.S You still can't scare me with those squeaking plastic rats!!

Walking in the footsteps of Jack the Ripper and his victims was a disturbing but fascinating insight in to the life and squalid conditions of the poor and destitute in Victorian London. This tour must be the best value for money in London!! Brilliant story telling by Kev and Mark - historians and real life Beefeaters - with plenty of audience interaction - especially in the pub afterwards! Thanks for a great night and look forward to follow up visit to the Tower!!

31 March 2009

Bryan Sifford, Charlotte, NC
A friend in London told me this is the best Jack The Ripper Tour and no question about it!!!

Nice that they keep it to small groups where they split a large number of people who showed up into groups of ~15-20 each while we saw a guide from another Jack tour with ~60 people in his tour.

With the small groups there is a lot of interaction; I cannot even imagine the tour with ~60 people in our group.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour!!!

30 March 2009

Lisa, Herts
I went on the tour for my 21st on Sat (28th) and i had the best time!

Ken was amazing and certainly knew his stuff.

Tour Date: Sunday 15th March 2009.

There's not alot I can say other than... -

"GO ON THE TOUR AND SEE FOR YOURSELVES!!"

It was a fantastic night, which took us around all areas of Whitechapel! The group sizes are great, not too big, and our tour guide 'Dickie' was superb. His knowledge, humour and facts, truely made the tour fantastic.

I wouldn't hesitate to go for a second time, Mitre Square was very spooky and some of the smaller streets we managed to visit (which the other tours could not due to size) made it that extra special.

A big thanks to Dickie for a great tour!! I would reccommend this tour to most ages! We are both in our early 20's and it was one of our highlights of our 4 days in London.

Thanks again Dickie!!

17 March 2009

Sarah & Iain, Hinckley, Leicestershire
Took tour on Sunday 15th March, Dickie was our guide.
We had a fantastic time on the tour, which was fun and informative.
Although the Whitechapel area has thankfully improved over the years, visiting the sites of the murders with a knowledgable and entertaining tour guide, certainly helped to bring the information to life.
Dickie we also enjoyed sharing a pint with you in the pub afterwards, where you continued to add to our knowledge of the history of the area and you day job!
I would highly recommend this tour.

What a great night! Simon was our very enthusiastic guide with a mind full of information, not only about Jack The Ripper but of the London area in general. A good couple of hours brisk walking around the streets you would probably not see otherwise. Knowing these guys are also Yeoman of the Guard, tells you the information given is as correct as can be. Well worth a visit! 5 star.

15 February 2009

The Wyganowski', Kemp and Cowell families, Essex
We booked this tour as our son's are studying Jack the Ripper as part of their GCSE History this year. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and Dickie our guide was excellent and really brought to life what Victorian East End London was like. He was very knowledgeable and witty and the boys learnt a lot more than they had in class! The group was not too big and it was chilling to stand on the spots where the Ripper had murdered his victims! A wonderful two hour tour and very good value for money. The evening was rounded off by a visit to a curry house in Brick Lane - a must for all visitors to the East End.

My boyfriend and I went on the tour for his birthday. Didnt really know what to expect when booked it. Steve was our tour guide who was very very good, funny and certainly knew what he was talking about. We see a few other tours when we done the walk in different locations and i felt we made the right choice by going with this tour as the other guides seemed to be too young. Found the tour very interesting and would definatly recomend to anybody. Was a cold night but you soon didnt feel the cold with the story etc.

05 February 2009

Chris was our guide and I could not fault him even if I tried. Not only did he have info about the ripper but also had answers to any questions asked. Have not stopped raving about it since I got back and have told all my family and friends to do it. Excellent thanks alot!!!! ; )

Dickie was our tour guide on this chilly and snowy evening!! He was very informative without sounding boring or going on and on. We found him very approachable and a funny guy!
The tour itself was very entertaining, but very spooky!!
Especially in Mitre Sqaure where I have read that the ghost of Catherine Eddowes has been spotted (!) Anyway, to top it all off, it was an enjoyable experience and well worth roaming the East End in the freezing cold snow!! Ben and Shakey xxx

My guide Dickie was a wonderfully eccentric man who made the tour worth every single penny.
An excitingly eerie walk, the tour was absolutely fascinating and put together very well.
I can't stop telling my friends about it and would definitely do it again!!

Kevin was our guide (This would finally be the blonde studying at Oxford and her two American friends who ran into you again the next day at the Tower....the day after you got an autograph from hmmm...Tori Spelling I am thinking?) Any how we lost your card til just now (I know....bloody Americans costing you your end of the year drinks). But we would highly recommend Kevin and his tour to everyone. It made for a great evening of entertainment and we apologize for commenting so late. We hope you still won!!!! Maybe your co-workers will be gentlemen and let you count this towards next year :0 )

It was my 40th birthday and this was my treat, I dragged along 6 friends, some who knew nearly nothing about Jack The Ripper.(They are all now fasinated) Dickie, our guide was fantastic, particulaly when describing some of the more gruesome facts! I would recommend this tour company to anybody if they want a great nights entertainment. Thanks also go to Kenny for making my weekend so special.

Viv & Steve Chaffe, Chelmsford Essex UK
What a great tour ! Kev proved to be an excellant guide, he kept us entertained from start to finish. Steve found it particually interesting as for 35 years he worked around the places that the bodies were found (crispin st, fenchurch st and whitechapel)yet he had no knowledge of this, as there arn't any plaques recording this ! why is that ?perhaps a coverup ?
So who was Jack the Ripper ? a bit like why did Princess Di die ? I guess we're never truly know. Great fun xxx

Great Tour, Steve very informative, but was so cold would love to go again in warmer weather!!!!!!

The tour was brilliant. My friend and I had a really good time and was very impressed that this was the only Jack the Ripper tour that actually goes into Whitechapel. Dickie was our guide and he was very informative, funny and gave you different views of who the killer might actually have been. A must for any fan of this part of London's history.

My friends and I absolutely loved the Jack the Ripper tour. Dickie was everything we could have asked for in a guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great storyteller! He knew just how to keep us in suspense for 2 1/2 hours. I will definitely recommend this attraction to all of my friends who visit London. Keep up the great work!

03 December 2008

Gary and Keily, Hertfordshire
Right from the start our guide Dickie was friendly and enthusiastic and even made a path through a rival tour party to get us the best spot in Mitre square. Dickie's knowledge and wit made the tour thoroughly enjoyable and informative, Dickie was a real storyteller and he almost made you feel like it was 1888. Highly recommended and great value for money, keep up the good work guys.

03 December 2008

CHLOE, Swansea
Me and my mother went on the tour on the 1st of December and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! Kevin was our guide and he was very informative and eager to answer any questions, he spared no details and threw in a few jokes along the way. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone-it was the highlight of my trip to London!! Thanks Kev!!!

25 November 2008

KATE, CARDIFF
I learned so much from this tour. It was fantastic as was our guide Mark - he kept the whole group mesmerised with what I can only describe in the words of Frank Carson "Tis the way you tell 'em". His voice carried well and even when we were between "scenes" he told us lots of interesting facts and showed us where the Diagon Alley footage was shot. Cannot sing his praises enough! FAB FAB FAB FAB!

Went on the tour on 20 Nov 2008 and it was great. I am sorry I do not remember the guides name mostly because of the pub afterwards, however, the tour was UNFORGETTABLE. Thank you for the knowledge and entertainment.

21 November 2008

liz Cheffins, Southend
I took along a party of 12 from Waitrose in Southend. We all really enjoyed the tour. Kevin was our guide and he was great. We were all transported back in time to the 1888 and as the evening was dark and chilly with a stiff breeze it all helped to set the scene.
Well done that man!

21 November 2008

Steve, Met Police Murder Squad
Chris was our guide and we had a fabulous walk and talk. A great deal of knowledge was displayed, not only about the Ripper but Victorian London as well. I am a Londoner of 45 years standing and did not know half of what we were told. A nice bit of banter with the punters as well. Chris was a great host to us detectives. Most highly recommended, thanyou.

19 November 2008

Steven, Essex, England
What a night. Our guide was Simon and he was fantastic. I have wanted to take the tour for many years, and it was well worth the wait. The attention to detail, the constant barrage of facts and information, and the delivery of the story was just amazing. And we also learnt some general history of London as well as the origins of some phrases we still use today. Cheers Simon, for a great night out. I'll definitely be coming back for more.

18 November 2008

Brought a group of performing arts students on a private tour. This was my 5th tour with Ripping Yarns and all the tour guides have been fantastic, (unlike some of their ill-informed and unprofessional rivals!) but last night Kevin engaged my students and made it more interactive for them as they will be performing the tale next month - thank you!

18 November 2008

Denise Petch, Johannesburg SA
Foiund the tour very informative and entertaining. Once again, history came alive, and I enjoyed every moment

18 November 2008

Rita Burrows, Bermuda
I can't believe I haven't done this years ago! Most probably becaue Ihate walking but Dickie managed to make the 2hours walk feel more like 30 mins. The Tour was excellent. Group size was good, not too big and Dickie is a fantastic story teller! He really draws you into the history of the area and continues to make references to the characters, making it all easier to remember. Without spoiling it too much, Dickie has a number of tricks up his sleeve to keep you enagaged along the way and to make the experience real :-) Great for couples (it has that romantic feel) and friends alike. Would definitely recommend!!!

17 November 2008

Holly W, Pickering Ontario Canada (Greater Toronto Area)
Our Guide was Dickie. He was entertaining, informative, and the group was a good size. We could hear everything, and Dickie was great. He made everyone feel welcomed to London.
I will bring my husband here on a future trip and will do this tour again. I will ask for Dickie.

15 November 2008

The Chadwick's, London
Took the whole family Mum,Dad,Wife,Son,Daughter and myself, out onto the dark, damp windswept streets of Whitechapel on the 9th.

Steve our guide was great.
He made it very interesting and entertaining not only for the adults but also my two teenage kids(the reluctant son who we had to drag off his games consloe)and my daughter who was allways at the front.

It is a must do. Still talking and thinking about it.

Worth every penny.

We went on last night's walk with Kev (and his side-kick, The Rat). Having previously worked in Brushfield Street near the scene of a Ripper murder, I have wanted to do one of the Jack the Ripper walks for a long while. Kev did not disappoint! He is a natural story-teller and knows his subject well, while throwing in lots of additional fascinating facts. The two hours flew by. A thoroughly enjoyable tour. Thanks Kev (and The Rat)!

A great Halloween night spent with Dickie walking round the rippers killing ground.
It's hard to picutre the site as they were but out guide did an awesome job and was very very good indeed.

Got to Mitre square and bumped into a group of 75!!!!!!!!
Our group was about 40 but this was Halloween night however.

A great tour and for £7 it's a top bargin entertainment

My friends and I had a wonderful time on our tour. It was definitely one of our highlights of our recent trip to London. Mark was very entertaining and displayed a great depth of knowledge on the subject of Jack the ripper. Absolutely loved the alternate theory! Bravo and Cheers!

Had a great time with our guide steve, his knowledge of the murders and the history of the area was excellent. Nicely organized and not too many people on the tour made the whole experiance enjoyable. Well worth £7 would recommend this tour.

Many thanks to Dickie!!!
Quite simply a fantastic evening. Wasn't too sure what to expect as the tour seemed a lot cheaper than all the others advertised!! More fool for all the people out there paying £22 pounds for a tour lasting 1 hour 20 mins, when we had a good quality 2 hours and 15 mins for a bargain £7 (and only then if you wanted to pay!!!).

Dickie made the evening for us and what an expert in the field of telling tales of Jack the Ripper. We were truly taken back in time to 1888. We shall definately return again.
Many thanks

On the evening of the 11th Oct.after a hectic day sightseeing,we joined Dickie for the highlight of our day.It was by far the most interesting&best value entertainment we had, had over our weekend.Highly recommended to all, will certainly tell others. So thanks Dickie your knowledge of Jack the ripper&fabulous walk around the sites&streets of Whitechapel will be remembered,& will return one day.

26 October 2008

Richard, Peterborough
We took the Tour a few weeks back, Our guide was Dickie.

We had done quite a few tourist attractions around london in the last few years but for interest and value this tour takes a lot of beating.

Dickie was very approachable and had a great sense of humour. There were only around 20 people on our tour and as we went round there were other tours with 60+ on them. In my opinion 20 was the right amount.

If you go on the tour you will definitely enjoy it and since they ask for payment at the end please pay as these guys are well worth the money.

Only thing is wear a good pair of shoes you will need them !!

24 October 2008

We visited London on our honeymoon, and went on the tour on October 4th. Despite the miserable weather, the tour was fantastic, and extremely enjoyable. I can't remember our tour guide's name, but he was fabulous. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting London! Thanks for a wonderful night and helping to make our London trip memorable!

23 October 2008

Allison, Hartlepool, UK
Our Ripper tour on 20th October with Mark (fab guy - generous with his sweeties) was absolutely fantastic! The weather was awful (rained the entire time) but couldn't detract from the quality of the knowledge, the humour and the whole experience. I always dread visiting London (not being used to the hussle and bussle of the big city) but I now find myself wanting to come back and take my kids on the tour (and tour the tower). Many thanks Mark.

21 October 2008

Christine Lee, Liverpool
Our guide Steve took us on our tour and he made it an animated, exciting and memorbale evening. I would highly recommed booking the tour with these guys. Beefeater by day and tour guides by night makes it feel all the more authentic. A bargain at £7 and you don't have to pay until the end incase you do not find the eveninig enjoyable...not one person on the tour i was on refused to pay the money, i think that says it all!

19 October 2008

Claire, Rayleigh, Essex, England
My family and I had an excellent time on the tour last night. I've been 'dying' to go on it for ages and am absolutely thrilled that I finally have and it certainly did not disappoint! Dickie was a great guide and had amazing enthusiasm considering the amount of times he must have done the tour! It was also very helpful in discovering short cuts that you never would've guessed were there otherwise! A truely fasinating evening dedicated to the gruesome crimes of Jack the Ripper as well as an insight into our historical culture of those times.

We had Dickie for our tour. He was very well spoken, informative and humerous. We learnt alot and were shocked by the graphic details. We were thankful that numbers were limited and that all five murders were depicted in such detail. Thank you for a great tour. We will happily recommend it.

17 October 2008

We've done this tour twice now and had great fun. Had Dickie on both occasions and he's always willing to answer all your questions. I would definatley recommend this tour to anyone.

This was a brilliant tour - Dickie was a wonderful guide and a great storyteller. I now really appreciate the history of places I had previously walked past without noticing. We walked past a couple of other tours towards the end and overhearing their guide made me confident ours was the best.

I would definitely recommend!

08 October 2008

Tony, London
Kev was our tour guide, lets just say this guy knew ALOT about the murders, threw in a few props, and some jokes to make the tour very educational yet very very enjoyable.

The group wasn't too big either, so you didn't miss a thing and it felt alot more intimate, even though kev was saying if the group gets bigger they have 2 guides so no one misses a thing. something other tours don't do.

Top notch stuff from Kev.

08 October 2008

Colin and Rachel, Northern Ireland
Took the tour on Sunday 5th October. Fantatsic tour and will recommend to anyone I know who is going to London. Our guide, Chris, was fantastic was open to discuss anything about Jack the Ripper, the Tower or the surrounding East End area. The 2 hours were very well spent and value for money.

05 October 2008

Adrienne and Dave, Kent, England
Ken was our tour guide and made the whole experience very memorable (although a stroll down the road it wasn't!). He brought to life the real east end story of the ripper and relayed the tale with enthusiasm, historical fact and humour. At every location Ken provided photographic evidence and graphic detail of the murders that had taken place. It was brilliant! (and, by the way, he is a true Beefeater to be found at the Tower during the day and, a true gent. Definately recommended.

Best tour in London! Our tour guide Kev was brilliant! You could really tell he was passionate about the story and not just repeating a script.
At one stage we walked past one of the other tours from a different company... over hearing the tour guide I was left wondering if he had just learnt about Jack the Ripper that day in school (his language and tone was very textbook and rehearsed), if I hadn't been pleased with the tour before (I had anyway) I was certainly pleased I chose this tour now.
Am recommending to all my friends and family. Well worth the money, and if I am ever in London again will probably do the tour again.
Thank you so much for offering this tour.

I have to admit to being a bit skeptical at first, but soon found myself completely enthralled. Ken did an excellent job, was both informative and entertaining. Seven pounds for an evenings good entertainment and education, with a good after dinner walk thrown in is possibly the best value thing I have done in London. Being a full moon helped the atmosphere too :-) Keep up the excellent work!

15 September 2008

I was in London last week and decided to check out this tour. It was great! Dickie was our guide and he did a fantastic job of bringing the Whitechapel murders to life. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that wants to learn some history on Jack or London itself and hear some stories that will stay with you for an awfully long time.

17 August 2008

Many Thanks to Dickie for a very entertaining, detailed and insighful visit to Victorian London! Even after a long day's shopping in the West End, Dickie's rendition of events kept us gripped and our achy legs were soon forgotten! We will definately be recomending this tour to all our family and friends!

16 August 2008

Alexi P., London
Thanks heaps for a nice evening ! Our guides' skillfully told anecdotes surrounding the series of murders committed by Jack the Ripper around Whitechapel, along with visits of the sites and period illustrations of the murder scenes and living conditions paint a wonderfully gruesome picture of the mysterious series of crimes and the circumstances under which they were committed. It struck me to which extent the social divide and the notoriously bad life of the lowest social ranks that set the scene for the murders, also seem to be characterising London to this day. Or was this perhaps the intended morale?

15 August 2008

L. Löschenkohl, CPH, Denmark
The 7th of august me and my mate went for the ripper tour. As the other comments state. This was a fantastic tour. All in all, we just want to thank our guide Simon for fantastic experience. Don't know what to say - Simon you are the best, thanks alot!

Thanks to Kev for our tour on the 8th August. Despite the corny jokes it was a very informative and interesting tour. We
would not have tried the walk on our own and being in some of the older locations made the story come to life.

Thanks for an exceptionally enjoyable evening.

Our guide was Steve, an animated and theatrical man who greeted us well before he took us on a journey from West to East (the East end of London to be exact). Together we retraced the murder path of the infamous JACK!!! The evening culminating in discovering the true identity of this sick and vicious murderer. Thanks for a great evening.

When I told my cousin I was coming to England for a visit and that I would like to spend a few days of my visit in London I told her that I didn't care if I saw nothing else in London as long as I got to do a Jack the Ripper tour. I left it in her hands to look in to tours and book the one she thought was best. She did not disappoint.

We went on the tour tonight with Simon as our guide. As soon as he started talking to us, I knew I'd met him earlier in the day. He was also my guide at the Tower of London. He did not disappoint with either one. He left us laughing many a time tonight and made us jump a few times too.

I would definitely recommend the Ripping Yarn Tours to anyone who wants to learn more about Jack the Ripper.

Thanks Simon for making my last night in London a very memorable one, and teaching me more about Jack the Ripper!

Just arrived home from an evening with Simon, and I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend a Thursday night! The tour was entertaining and very informative, and I have never been so pleased to be compared to a fence! The added bonus of a colourful local just made the whole evening more enjoyable.

Thank you very much Simon, for making my cousin's final evening in London the most memorable of the whole trip!

Chris was our guide. I'd been told by a friend at work not to miss this tour as it was really good. We were not disappointed. Chris built up the suspense wonderfully. Every street corner had its piece of history. We had two young children with us and he let us know when we needed to cover their delicate ears. 2 hours not to miss while in London. Great tour.

went on a tour with ken, just turned up did not know what to expect but what a fantastic surprise. Ken was funny and full of knowledge. All the family enjoyed it including our teenagers (you now how hard they are to please). Take this tour you will not regret it. Big thanks ken.

We went Sat 26th July and had Dicky,
We started at 6:50 and it went on till 9:20

If you ever want a very funny, very informed guide please make sure you ask for a day when hes giving the tour, you wont be disapointed!

Like somebody a few comments below me said, we passed loads of other groups, some had headsets and speakers and some were in huge groups, some seemed to be running around like headless chickens, but none seemed to have the charm and charisma of Dicky!

He seemed wise and very chatty. one minute he would get creepy and we would all be spooked, the next we were laughing :)! we would walk for a few mins then he would stop and give a little talk, always waiting for people to catch up and it never felt rushed at all, he often asked if we had any questions and asked us what our views / opions were. he was full of intresting facts about london in general as we were going round its a full tour of the east end not just the ripper murders!

I would really recomend the dicky tour to anybody, when we got home everybody we told about the tour wanted to go!

My partner Mel also agreed that for £7 you really cannot find a better night out in london, ive been to 3 'top' shows and this tour kocked spots off them easily.

In short - Top night out !

I went on the tour on the 25 of July. It was a great tour. Our tour guide Dickie was Excellent. He was funny and he really made you think about who done it. The tour group wasn't to big so your able to hear everything. And at the end of the tour he drops you off right at the tube station. I recommend this tour to everybody.

Thank you Simon Dodds for a thoroughly entertaining and informative evening. Our group was still discussing who the culprit was after the walk. Although the weather was poor Simon conducted the tour with humour, intrigue and style. Really pleased we came with your company, thoroughly professional. Special thanks Simon, a great end to the day.

Did the tour (Jul22 ) with Chris. Only 15 or so on the tour which made it very personal. Chris still has his parade ground voice and bearing so no problem hearing or understanding. He was witty and informative. We passed other tours with hordes of people and weak voiced guides. This was my second time on the tour. Believe me, this is the tour to take! For seven quid (and only if you are satisfied) you get to hear a great and terrifying story from a genuine beefeater!

Fantastic tour, Ken gave us a very good insite into the "world of Jack the Ripper". If your visiting London I highly recomend anyone to go on this tour

What a fantastic evening! From the off Ken had me hooked! He really knew his stuff and was a fantastic tour guide! No money required up front but there is no question about wether you would pay or not it was well worth the money!
I'll be back in the winter months to really add to the eariness. Many thanks Ken you were excellent!

Dicky was amazing. My friends and I enjoyed the tour so much, and have been suggesting it to all our friends in our summer program. It was totally worth it for us to go to (we came all the way from Oxford for the evening just to go!). Great information, very amusing, and even though a lot of walking we didn't mind at all!

Fantastic tour on 16th of July. we've been on tours like this before but this was way ahead of the rest, I learnt more about whitechapel and the area and about the murders on this tour than any other.
Dickie was the guy that took us around that evening and he was great, he chatted to almost everyone and told
