This was a great tour and as cold and tired as we were 'Dickie' kept our attention to the max, with his great stoying telling ability, and some light hearted humor and plenty of good factual information, pictures to take you back to 1888, it was a great tour and highly recommended. |

The tour was really nice, Dickie, walked us through the small alleys and not only explained the murders but also told us really interesting facts about the history of the White Chapel.
Definitely worth the 7 pounds, if you do it though, better be wearing comfortable shoes, lots of layers and be prepared for a long walk!

8 of us went on this tour on 27th Feb and whilst the weather was damp and cold, we had a fantastic time. Our guide was very funny and made a serious business lighthearted. Walked down streets one wouldn't normally go and really got the feel of the old London. Brilliant and well worth every penny - not to be missed. One word of warning - try not to walk around London all day before the tour!! |

We took our tour on February 23, it was a miserable damp night and we loved it. We would like to say Thank you to our guide Kevin, who is an excellent story-teller very informative he told the gory tale with humour. It was nice to be in a smaller group as we were able to hear everything that Kev was saying.
Well worth the price I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in Jack the Ripper. |

The tour guide Kev did a fantastic job of making the tour interesting, informative, but also humorous, making it a very enjoyable night.

A wonderful tour and Dickie was a fantastic guide. It was a cold, very wet evening, and this along with Dickie's wonderful storytelling made it all very atmospheric. Would like to do it again! |

We had an amazing night and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the tour in dark, cold Whitechapel. Chris was a FANTASTIC guide with a great sense of humour and an amazing knowledge of all things London. He really set the scene of 1880s London and is clearly extremely passionate about his job. I learnt a lot more than I expected and appreciated he was open to giving advice about different aspects of London. I will be recommending this tour to everyone I know in London. Thank you so much! |

Dickie was our guide and very entertaining he was. It made a cold night in London very enjoyable and his knowledge of The Ripper was excellent. A brisk walk around the back streets of London to keep you on your toes. Thanks Dickie for a great evening |

We thouroughly enjoyed the tour and Dickie was an excellent guide. His storytelling kept us hooked the whole way round! It was cold (well not too cold for us Scots!) and dark which added to the evening. We even got to see copies of photographs from the time which were very interesting. Thanks for a great evening! |

After an overnight flight and all day touring, I was determined to see the Jack the Ripper tour on my first night in London, despite the frigid cold.
And the tour was well worth it. Chris was a great guy, funny, knowledgable and a great storyteller. I've read a lot of Jack the Ripper books but still picked up some new information and it was great to finally put the locations into some perspective.
Had a great cold night and can't wait to do it again some day. |

My sisters and I went on the tour on Sunday night, Jan. 3. Our tour guide was Dickie - absolutley wonderful! He was great at leading the group, speaking loudly enough, and making the tour so very interesting! It was very cold that night, but it was well worth walking around where the murders took place for over two hours. It was a very interesting tour but I do think that Dickie made it extra special. |

Comments:
My son paid for me to go on this tour as a birthday treat and our guide was Dickie, who was terrific. His knowledge of London is formidable and he made everyone feel like the detectives that very night. We came away with a real sense of how life was for many folk just a hundred years ago and the appalling deprivation in the East End. How many guides bring along memorabilia like coins, photographs etc and we came away knowing much more about one of the greatest cities in the world [ours!] and all of my party felt it was superb value for just seven pounds. |

Kev, you are a great guide. We enjoyed the tour so much, that we haven't even felt the cold weather (really cold indeed)!
Hope to take another tour with you next time with more friends. We learnt a lot about London.
Have a great 2010!

I loved our tour last night, it was brilliant.
Kev made it REAL with his sense of suspense, his wit and his props. We had a fab time and were so impressed by the amount of details, passion and enthusiasm Kev brought to us.
Thanks Kevin, we had a fabber time and feel a bit more knowledgeable about JRP (Liked that portrait at the end)
I thoroughly recommend it. |

A fantastic tour, informative and interesting and didn't know where the time went. Simon, our tour guide, was superb, and we can't recommend his tour enough. If the other guides are only half as good as he was, it would still be a great tour. Particularly liked the trivia about the area Simon told us, he obviously has a great passion and enthusiasm for his work, which was infectious. Thanks for a great evening. |

Fantastic experience, well worth 2 hours in the snow and rain, which added to the atmosphere anyway. Simon the guide was exceptionally entertaining and informative, and we picked up all sorts of other interesting information from him - I now know where Diagon Alley is and how the Victorians stopped hansom cabs crushing pedestrians!! Two of your rival tours were on our heels, and we certainly seemed to be having the best time!! Thanks, would definitely do it again. Thanks to Simon - a great evening! |

The tour was absolutely excellent. It was informative, fun and cleverly devised. Our guide was equally superb; he was thoroughly well versed in his subject, possessed of wonderful public-speaking skills and the inclusion of the information cards regularly passed around the group was a lovely touch. The stop off at the pub was also warmly received! All in a great way to start an evening”. Matt W

fantastic tour that completely engages you from the off. Dickie is a superb guide who through his wealth of knowledge and excellent delivery manages to re-create a real sense of what 19th century London would have been like whilst fully immersing you in the case of Jack the Ripper. Re-told in every lurid, gory detail, along with amusing asides, this tour manages to be both incredibly informative and brilliantly entertaining. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get here to give my comments ... life on the road is so busy!
We did the tour on 14th October 2009 and had a ball. Our guide was Kevin and I was the perfect stooge for him ... never failing to jump, twitch or gve a nervous scream as he told his wonderful tale ... peppered with jokes, props and lots of detailed knowledge about the events and the period. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and were delighted when we joined a tour of a nearby 'world famous World Heritage site' to discover Kevin in his daytime role was to be our guide. On both occasions he was very entertaining and informative. Thanks Kevin! |

We did the tour on Friday 4th Dec, and our guide was Dickie.
The tour was excellent and Dickie was really informative, as well as being quite humourous! The cold, dark damp weather on the night gave it an extra eerie feel.
Well worth the money - I can't imagne anyone wouldn't enjoy it, but it's a nice touch that you only have to pay at the end of the evening. |

On Saturday 21st November my girlfriend and I were in London to celebrate her Birthday. She's always liked murder and mystery and whilst we had alot of plans for London we were both looking forward to this tour. It was cold and rain fell hard however the tour was fantastic. The Guide was very friendly and you could easliy tell that he had a love for what he was showing - the 2 hours soon passed.
Between talks I took in what other guides were saying as we passed and all i can say is that we made the right choice as the other guides sounded like they were reading from a script and just going through the motions.
My Girlfriend and I thought we knew alot about Jack The Ripper but by the end of this tour I promise you, you will know Jack..... Guys thanks for a Great experience that still has left me thinking today and has left me wanting to read more into the Ripper History.
An even bigger crime than that of the Ripper would be anyone who doesn't feel they should pay at the end of the tour because this was money well spent for us. |

Having always wanted to do the Jack the Ripper Tour I wasn't dissappointed when some friends and I got together for the tour on Tuesday 3rd November 2009. Our guide was Kev who was very informative but also very funny. We saw other tour groups on our way with so many people in, it was good to be in a smaller group and be able to hear everything Kev was saying. Not having to book was a bonus as the weather had been very hit and miss all day but luckily for us it stayed dry! I would definitely recommend this to my friends and would do the tour again. |

I have always wanted to do the Jack the Ripper Tour and finally myself and a group of friends got organised to do the tour on Tuesday 3rd November 2009, our guide was Kev. It was the most fun I have ever had walking around scary haunts in London. The guide was extremely knowledgable of the area and the murders and was very entertaining. You really got a feel for what London would have been like for people in 1888. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and I would want to do this tour again. |

Our guide Dickie was BRILLIANT!! The tour was probably the best part of our visit to London!!
Dickie kept us captivated the entire time with his jokes and is amazing story-telling skills!! Dickie also took the time to speak to us whilst walking between each murder scene etc.
He really brought the events to life for us and recited the story as though he was there himself.
It was definitely worth the £7!
If your looking for a Jack the Ripper Tour this is the one to do!! We will definitely be recommending this tour to our friends and family!
Thanks for a great evening Dickie! |

Took this tour on Friday 23rd October and thoroughly enjoyed it! Chris was an excellent guide and managed to captivate my imagination and transport us back 1888. It was easy to imagine the streets as they were over 120 years ago even though Eastenders was playing on the TV in the building opposite! Would thoroughly recommend this tour and will be taking it again with other family members next time we are in London. |

Dickey was a great tour leader. The tour was very informative about London (and Whitechapel specifically) in the 1800's in general. Although I thought the tour group was slightly big at first I could hear every word and never missed anything. The tour is a total of 2.5 hours (I think the longest of them all) and is jampacked with interesting facts - the first time I looked at my watch was 20 minutes before the end! Tour starts early 18h45 so you'll still get in bed at a decent hour. Thank you!! |

I must say that my second tour was thoroughly as enjoyable as the first. (Sorry, Dickie, but Ken is very good at what he does as well ... ). The entertainment and education, not only about the murders, but the Victorian way of life during that time, is easily worth the tour price.
Thanks to both Ken and Mark for their professionalism and courtesy and special thanks to Ken for the unexpected bonus thrown in as well. |

I'm not someone who is easily impressed so the Thursday 8th October tour with Kev the beefeater was a brilliat evening walk and tour of Whitechappel. Our interest was kept going with a mix of humour and story telling and the odd shock tactic (go on the tour to see what I mean!) you must go on this tour if you are in London, fantastic value and entertaiment |

We went on a Jack The Rpper Tour on Sat 3rd October, with Kevin, which was superbly put acoss to the group in such a professional and knowledgable way. He also injected a bit of humour into the tour, but always at the right times, and never disrespectful to the errible events of 1888. I consider myself to have a basic knowledge of those tragic deaths, but Kevin put a few spanners in my train of thought as to who I might have considered to be the murderer (I won't spoil it for anybody!). Absolutely fantastic, and would love to do it again. |

Dickie was excellent I think he enjoyed telling the story as much as we all enjoyed hearing it. Although as Londoners we grew up with the story of Jack, Dickie brought it to life and made it seem all the more real - brilliant |

Dickie was great - Thanks for a very informative tour.
I was worried I would not be able to hear as the group was quite large but I could hear every would of Dickies strangely familier voice.
Highly recomended. |

While on holiday in London last week, I had the privilege of taking the tour with Steve on a cold, rainy night. I was glad I had my Wellies on, and that Steve was such an absolutely brilliant guide to make the most of the experience despite the rain. Not only was the tour informative, but Steve brought the facts to life with his wit and charm. I will be spreading the word from this side of the pond that everyone should take this tour when visiting London. Thanks, Steve! |

My friend and I have been meaning to do a "Ripper Tour" for ages and finally did on 08 September. We're so glad we picked this particular tour! Kevin, our guide, was really informative and very entertaining and knew lots about the area. The advert states that if you don't enjoy the tour, you don't have to pay but I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Highly recommended! |

As a new resident to the area I was interested by the signs i see reeguarly getting off the tube and along with my friend we decided to take the tour. Chris the tour guide was awesome, informatine , charasmatic and amusing.
All in all i would reccommend the tour to anyone, although the vivid descriptions of some of the murders did make me feel a little ill. However this added to the experience. |

Bryan Sifford, Charlotte, NC
A friend in London told me this is the best Jack The Ripper Tour and no question about it!!!
Nice that they keep it to small groups where they split a large number of people who showed up into groups of ~15-20 each while we saw a guide from another Jack tour with ~60 people in his tour.
With the small groups there is a lot of interaction; I cannot even imagine the tour with ~60 people in our group.
I thoroughly enjoyed the tour!!! |

Tour Date: Sunday 15th March 2009.
There's not alot I can say other than... -
"GO ON THE TOUR AND SEE FOR YOURSELVES!!"
It was a fantastic night, which took us around all areas of Whitechapel! The group sizes are great, not too big, and our tour guide 'Dickie' was superb. His knowledge, humour and facts, truely made the tour fantastic.
I wouldn't hesitate to go for a second time, Mitre Square was very spooky and some of the smaller streets we managed to visit (which the other tours could not due to size) made it that extra special.
A big thanks to Dickie for a great tour!! I would reccommend this tour to most ages! We are both in our early 20's and it was one of our highlights of our 4 days in London.
Thanks again Dickie!! |
17 March 2009 |
Sarah & Iain, Hinckley, Leicestershire
Took tour on Sunday 15th March, Dickie was our guide.
We had a fantastic time on the tour, which was fun and informative.
Although the Whitechapel area has thankfully improved over the years, visiting the sites of the murders with a knowledgable and entertaining tour guide, certainly helped to bring the information to life.
Dickie we also enjoyed sharing a pint with you in the pub afterwards, where you continued to add to our knowledge of the history of the area and you day job!
I would highly recommend this tour.

Mark was an excellent guide displaying a firm grasp of the story and the history of the area. He showed a keen ability to inject comic relief into the grisly story at the right times as well, which was probably one reason that my 13 year old daughter loved the tour from beginning to end. |

What a great night! Simon was our very enthusiastic guide with a mind full of information, not only about Jack The Ripper but of the London area in general. A good couple of hours brisk walking around the streets you would probably not see otherwise. Knowing these guys are also Yeoman of the Guard, tells you the information given is as correct as can be. Well worth a visit! 5 star. |

The Wyganowski', Kemp and Cowell families, Essex
We booked this tour as our son's are studying Jack the Ripper as part of their GCSE History this year. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and Dickie our guide was excellent and really brought to life what Victorian East End London was like. He was very knowledgeable and witty and the boys learnt a lot more than they had in class! The group was not too big and it was chilling to stand on the spots where the Ripper had murdered his victims! A wonderful two hour tour and very good value for money. The evening was rounded off by a visit to a curry house in Brick Lane - a must for all visitors to the East End. |

My boyfriend and I went on the tour for his birthday. Didnt really know what to expect when booked it. Steve was our tour guide who was very very good, funny and certainly knew what he was talking about. We see a few other tours when we done the walk in different locations and i felt we made the right choice by going with this tour as the other guides seemed to be too young. Found the tour very interesting and would definatly recomend to anybody. Was a cold night but you soon didnt feel the cold with the story etc. |

Dickie was our tour guide on this chilly and snowy evening!! He was very informative without sounding boring or going on and on. We found him very approachable and a funny guy!
The tour itself was very entertaining, but very spooky!!
Especially in Mitre Sqaure where I have read that the ghost of Catherine Eddowes has been spotted (!) Anyway, to top it all off, it was an enjoyable experience and well worth roaming the East End in the freezing cold snow!! Ben and Shakey xxx |

Viv & Steve Chaffe, Chelmsford Essex UK
What a great tour ! Kev proved to be an excellant guide, he kept us entertained from start to finish. Steve found it particually interesting as for 35 years he worked around the places that the bodies were found (crispin st, fenchurch st and whitechapel)yet he had no knowledge of this, as there arn't any plaques recording this ! why is that ?perhaps a coverup ?
So who was Jack the Ripper ? a bit like why did Princess Di die ? I guess we're never truly know. Great fun xxx |

My friends and I absolutely loved the Jack the Ripper tour. Dickie was everything we could have asked for in a guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great storyteller! Right from the start our guide Dickie was friendly and enthusiastic and even made a path through a rival tour party to get us the best spot in Mitre square. Dickie's knowledge and wit made the tour thoroughly enjoyable and informative, Dickie was a real storyteller and he almost made you feel like it was 1888. Highly recommended and great value for money, keep up the good work guys. |

KATE, CARDIFF
I learned so much from this tour. It was fantastic as was our guide Mark - he kept the whole group mesmerised with what I can only describe in the words of Frank Carson "Tis the way you tell 'em". His voice carried well and even when we were between "scenes" he told us lots of interesting facts and showed us where the Diagon Alley footage was shot. Cannot sing his praises enough! FAB FAB FAB FAB! |

I took along a party of 12 from Waitrose in Southend. We all really enjoyed the tour. Kevin was our guide and he was great. We were all transported back in time to the 1888 and as the evening was dark and chilly with a stiff breeze it all helped to set the scene.
Well done that man! |
21 November 2008 |
Steve, Met Police Murder Squad
Chris was our guide and we had a fabulous walk and talk. A great deal of knowledge was displayed, not only about the Ripper but Victorian London as well. I am a Londoner of 45 years standing and did not know half of what we were told. A nice bit of banter with the punters as well. Chris was a great host to us detectives. Most highly recommended, thanyou. |

Steven, Essex, England
What a night. Our guide was Simon and he was fantastic. I have wanted to take the tour for many years, and it was well worth the wait. The attention to detail, the constant barrage of facts and information, and the delivery of the story was just amazing. And we also learnt some general history of London as well as the origins of some phrases we still use today. Cheers Simon, for a great night out. I'll definitely be coming back for more. |

Brought a group of performing arts students on a private tour. This was my 5th tour with Ripping Yarns and all the tour guides have been fantastic, (unlike some of their ill-informed and unprofessional rivals!) but last night Kevin engaged my students and made it more interactive for them as they will be performing the tale next month - thank you! |

Rita Burrows, Bermuda
I can't believe I haven't done this years ago! Most probably becaue Ihate walking but Dickie managed to make the 2hours walk feel more like 30 mins. The Tour was excellent. Group size was good, not too big and Dickie is a fantastic story teller! He really draws you into the history of the area and continues to make references to the characters, making it all easier to remember. Without spoiling it too much, Dickie has a number of tricks up his sleeve to keep you enagaged along the way and to make the experience real :-) Great for couples (it has that romantic feel) and friends alike. Would definitely recommend!!! |
17 November 2008 |

Took the whole family Mum,Dad,Wife,Son,Daughter and myself, out onto the dark, damp windswept streets of Whitechapel on the 9th.
Steve our guide was great.
He made it very interesting and entertaining not only for the adults but also my two teenage kids(the reluctant son who we had to drag off his games consloe)and my daughter who was allways at the front.
It is a must do. Still talking and thinking about it.
Worth every penny.

We went on last night's walk with Kev (and his side-kick, The Rat). Having previously worked in Brushfield Street near the scene of a Ripper murder, I have wanted to do one of the Jack the Ripper walks for a long while. Kev did not disappoint! He is a natural story-teller and knows his subject well, while throwing in lots of additional fascinating facts. The two hours flew by. A thoroughly enjoyable tour. Thanks Kev (and The Rat)! |

Claire and Ian Davies, Halesowen, west midlands
Many thanks to Dickie!!!
Quite simply a fantastic evening. Wasn't too sure what to expect as the tour seemed a lot cheaper than all the others advertised!! More fool for all the people out there paying £22 pounds for a tour lasting 1 hour 20 mins, when we had a good quality 2 hours and 15 mins for a bargain £7 (and only then if you wanted to pay!!!).
Dickie made the evening for us and what an expert in the field of telling tales of Jack the Ripper. We were truly taken back in time to 1888. We shall definately return again.
Many thanks |

Richard, Peterborough
We took the Tour a few weeks back, Our guide was Dickie.
We had done quite a few tourist attractions around london in the last few years but for interest and value this tour takes a lot of beating.
Dickie was very approachable and had a great sense of humour. There were only around 20 people on our tour and as we went round there were other tours with 60+ on them. In my opinion 20 was the right amount.
If you go on the tour you will definitely enjoy it and since they ask for payment at the end please pay as these guys are well worth the money.
Only thing is wear a good pair of shoes you will need them !! |
24 October 2008 |

We visited London on our honeymoon, and went on the tour on October 4th. Despite the miserable weather, the tour was fantastic, and extremely enjoyable. I can't remember our tour guide's name, but he was fabulous. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting London! Thanks for a wonderful night and helping to make our London trip memorable! |
23 October 2008 |
Allison, Hartlepool, UK
Our Ripper tour on 20th October with Mark (fab guy - generous with his sweeties) was absolutely fantastic! The weather was awful (rained the entire time) but couldn't detract from the quality of the knowledge, the humour and the whole experience. I always dread visiting London (not being used to the hussle and bussle of the big city) but I now find myself wanting to come back and take my kids on the tour (and tour the tower). Many thanks Mark. |
21 October 2008 |
Christine Lee, Liverpool
Our guide Steve took us on our tour and he made it an animated, exciting and memorbale evening. I would highly recommed booking the tour with these guys. Beefeater by day and tour guides by night makes it feel all the more authentic. A bargain at £7 and you don't have to pay until the end incase you do not find the eveninig enjoyable...not one person on the tour i was on refused to pay the money, i think that says it all! |
19 October 2008 |
Claire, Rayleigh, Essex, England
My family and I had an excellent time on the tour last night. I've been 'dying' to go on it for ages and am absolutely thrilled that I finally have and it certainly did not disappoint! Dickie was a great guide and had amazing enthusiasm considering the amount of times he must have done the tour! It was also very helpful in discovering short cuts that you never would've guessed were there otherwise! A truely fasinating evening dedicated to the gruesome crimes of Jack the Ripper as well as an insight into our historical culture of those times. |

We had Dickie for our tour. He was very well spoken, informative and humerous. We learnt alot and were shocked by the graphic details. We were thankful that numbers were limited and that all five murders were depicted in such detail. Thank you for a great tour. We will happily recommend it. |

Kev did a wonderful job. He certainly knows his history and the area. Kev certainly kept us on the edge of our seats with his lore and especially his humor. We had a blast.

This was a brilliant tour - Dickie was a wonderful guide and a great storyteller. I now really appreciate the history of places I had previously walked past without noticing. We walked past a couple of other tours towards the end and overhearing their guide made me confident ours was the best.
I would definitely recommend!

Tony, London
Kev was our tour guide, lets just say this guy knew ALOT about the murders, threw in a few props, and some jokes to make the tour very educational yet very very enjoyable.
The group wasn't too big either, so you didn't miss a thing and it felt alot more intimate, even though kev was saying if the group gets bigger they have 2 guides so no one misses a thing. something other tours don't do.
Top notch stuff from Kev.

Took the tour on Sunday 5th October. Fantatsic tour and will recommend to anyone I know who is going to London. Our guide, Chris, was fantastic was open to discuss anything about Jack the Ripper, the Tower or the surrounding East End area. The 2 hours were very well spent and value for money. |
05 October 2008 |
Adrienne and Dave, Kent, England
Ken was our tour guide and made the whole experience very memorable (although a stroll down the road it wasn't!). He brought to life the real east end story of the ripper and relayed the tale with enthusiasm, historical fact and humour. At every location Ken provided photographic evidence and graphic detail of the murders that had taken place. It was brilliant! (and, by the way, he is a true Beefeater to be found at the Tower during the day and, a true gent. Definately recommended. |

Best tour in London! Our tour guide Kev was brilliant! You could really tell he was passionate about the story and not just repeating a script.
At one stage we walked past one of the other tours from a different company... over hearing the tour guide I was left wondering if he had just learnt about Jack the Ripper that day in school (his language and tone was very textbook and rehearsed), if I hadn't been pleased with the tour before (I had anyway) I was certainly pleased I chose this tour now.
Am recommending to all my friends and family. Well worth the money, and if I am ever in London again will probably do the tour again.
Thank you so much for offering this tour. |

Our Tour guide was i believe Richard with the little beard.
He gave a Captivating guide through whitechapel and you
couldnt get bored with his delivery of the facts.

I have to admit to being a bit skeptical at first, but soon found myself completely enthralled. Ken did an excellent job, was both informative and entertaining. Seven pounds for an evenings good entertainment and education, with a good after dinner walk thrown in is possibly the best value thing I have done in London. Being a full moon helped the atmosphere too :-) Keep up the excellent work! |

we went on the Ripper tour on 5th September on a very wet night! Despite this, the tour guide kept us thoroughly entertained. He had a really in depth knowledge not just of the Ripper but also the history of London. Steve was our guide and he really is a terrific person and so well informed we forgot we were soaking! |

We absolutley loved the tour and presentation from dickie, We couldn't stop talking about the whole tour days and weeks after walking around all the historic jack the ripper sights in the olde east end, we have recommended it to everyone we know, If your coming to London you have to make sure you do the ripper tour, As a trip to London wouldn't be the same without it, Dickie was excellent with his insight and knowledge and also entertaining, Thanks Dickie! |
17 August 2008 |

I was in London last week and decided to check out this tour. It was great! Dickie was our guide and he did a fantastic job of bringing the Whitechapel murders to life. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that wants to learn some history on Jack or London itself and hear some stories that will stay with you for an awfully long time. |

Many Thanks to Dickie for a very entertaining, detailed and insighful visit to Victorian London! Even after a long day's shopping in the West End, Dickie's rendition of events kept us gripped and our achy legs were soon forgotten! We will definately be recomending this tour to all our family and friends! |
16 August 2008 |
Alexi P., London
Thanks heaps for a nice evening ! Our guides' skillfully told anecdotes surrounding the series of murders committed by Jack the Ripper around Whitechapel, along with visits of the sites and period illustrations of the murder scenes and living conditions paint a wonderfully gruesome picture of the mysterious series of crimes and the circumstances under which they were committed. It struck me to which extent the social divide and the notoriously bad life of the lowest social ranks that set the scene for the murders, also seem to be characterising London to this day. Or was this perhaps the intended morale?

Had tour from Simon on the evening of the 7th of August and cannot fault any part of the tour. Excellent value for money, very informative not only about Jack the Ripper but also about the East End, just the right amount of people and the presentation was of an extremely high standard.
Thanks for an exceptionally enjoyable evening. |

Our guide was Steve, an animated and theatrical man who greeted us well before he took us on a journey from West to East (the East end of London to be exact). Together we retraced the murder path of the infamous JACK!!! The evening culminating in discovering the true identity of this sick and vicious murderer. Thanks for a great evening. |

When I told my cousin I was coming to England for a visit and that I would like to spend a few days of my visit in London I told her that I didn't care if I saw nothing else in London as long as I got to do a Jack the Ripper tour. I left it in her hands to look in to tours and book the one she thought was best. She did not disappoint.
We went on the tour tonight with Simon as our guide. As soon as he started talking to us, I knew I'd met him earlier in the day. He was also my guide at the Tower of London. He did not disappoint with either one. He left us laughing many a time tonight and made us jump a few times too.
I would definitely recommend the Ripping Yarn Tours to anyone who wants to learn more about Jack the Ripper.
Thanks Simon for making my last night in London a very memorable one, and teaching me more about Jack the Ripper! |

Just arrived home from an evening with Simon, and I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend a Thursday night! The tour was entertaining and very informative, and I have never been so pleased to be compared to a fence! The added bonus of a colourful local just made the whole evening more enjoyable.
Thank you very much Simon, for making my cousin's final evening in London the most memorable of the whole trip! |

Chris was our guide. I'd been told by a friend at work not to miss this tour as it was really good. We were not disappointed. Chris built up the suspense wonderfully. Every street corner had its piece of history. We had two young children with us and he let us know when we needed to cover their delicate ears. 2 hours not to miss while in London. Great tour. |

Paul + Mel, Tilbury, Essex
We went Sat 26th July and had Dicky,
We started at 6:50 and it went on till 9:20
If you ever want a very funny, very informed guide please make sure you ask for a day when hes giving the tour, you wont be disapointed!
Like somebody a few comments below me said, we passed loads of other groups, some had headsets and speakers and some were in huge groups, some seemed to be running around like headless chickens, but none seemed to have the charm and charisma of Dicky!
He seemed wise and very chatty. one minute he would get creepy and we would all be spooked, the next we were laughing :)! we would walk for a few mins then he would stop and give a little talk, always waiting for people to catch up and it never felt rushed at all, he often asked if we had any questions and asked us what our views / opions were. he was full of intresting facts about london in general as we were going round its a full tour of the east end not just the ripper murders!
I would really recomend the dicky tour to anybody, when we got home everybody we told about the tour wanted to go!
My partner Mel also agreed that for £7 you really cannot find a better night out in london, ive been to 3 'top' shows and this tour kocked spots off them easily.
In short - Top night out !

I went on the tour on the 25 of July. It was a great tour. Our tour guide Dickie was Excellent. He was funny and he really made you think about who done it. The tour group wasn't to big so your able to hear everything. And at the end of the tour he drops you off right at the tube station. I recommend this tour to everybody. |

Thank you Simon Dodds for a thoroughly entertaining and informative evening. Our group was still discussing who the culprit was after the walk. Although the weather was poor Simon conducted the tour with humour, intrigue and style. Really pleased we came with your company, thoroughly professional. Special thanks Simon, a great end to the day. |

George, Los Angeles
Did the tour (Jul22 ) with Chris. Only 15 or so on the tour which made it very personal. Chris still has his parade ground voice and bearing so no problem hearing or understanding. He was witty and informative. We passed other tours with hordes of people and weak voiced guides. This was my second time on the tour. Believe me, this is the tour to take! For seven quid (and only if you are satisfied) you get to hear a great and terrifying story from a genuine beefeater! |

Dicky was amazing. My friends and I enjoyed the tour so much, and have been suggesting it to all our friends in our summer program. Fantastic tour on 16th of July. we've been on tours like this before but this was way ahead of the rest, I learnt more about whitechapel and the area and about the murders on this tour than any other.
Dickie was the guy that took us around that evening and he was great, he chatted to almost everyone and told us little known facts and sayings. great night and well worth £7 each well done.

Lindsay & Richard, Ipswich (now London)
After living in Whitechapel for sometime and being aware of the Jack Ripper connection with the area, we finally got around to taking the tour - it was well worth the wait!
Our tour guide Dickie was awaiting our arrival and we set off bang on time. Dickies charisma and knowledge immediately drew us in and took us back in time to 1888. Suddenly the streets we had walked down on a dialy basis took on a whole new light and will never be the same again!
A great evening that doesnt cost the earth. A good way to get out and about in London. Fantastic delivery from Dickie; brought this old tale back to life. Thanks. |

I have been living in London for a year and have always wanted to do the tour. I wish I didn't wait so long. It was brilliant.
I am tempted to go and do it again!
Dicky was our tour guide he's brilliant. He really knows his stuff. His knowledge (of the ripper and London), combined with presentation style and humour really made the tour.
I didn't know anything about Jack the Ripper before, but there were people on the tour who knew lots and I think we were all catered for.
A definite must!

After a great day at the Tower, we were just entering the tube station to return home when we noticed Dickie gathering a crowd.
I've always been interested in Jack the Ripper, but Dickie really brought the story to life. He was full of information and really seemed to know the details and locations.

The tour was great and we were very surprised how many of the little cobble streets and original buildings are still there today within the shadow of the city. We had a great time and plan another tour later on in the year. I been on many tours and this was one of the best tours to date.

Jennifer Cardona --EF TOURS FLORIDA GROUP!, Orlando, FL
Where to I begin...
It was part of our personal itinerary that we MUST go on this tour when we got to London. To our pleasant surprise we had Dickie as our tour guide for this WONDERFUL AND SCARY trip down history's past.
He took the groups on this specific tour around White Chapel, all of EF TOUR's from Florida [my group!], Alabama, and Idaho but made the experience just as intimate as if dealing with a small group.
He was SO amazing, entertaining, knowledgeable, and made our experience everything we had been hoping for. This was an American group that wanted to go to this infamous tour and was not disappointed! So professional and focused on retelling these stories, and so much fun! I can't say enough about Dickie!
We ended up running into him also at the Tower Of London, and he was so kind and welcoming. He never forgot our faces! I hope he will read this, because really, he made The Jack the Ripper tour the HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP!
If you want to be scared and educated on the terrifying history of Jack the Ripper and if you're in London, go to this tour and REQUEST DICKIE!! HE'S AWESOME! |

I was on the Saturday tour with Dickie and it was excellent. My feet killed by the end of it! But it was really interesting, building on a topic I was already interested in and had a little knowledge about. I certainly feel more connected to the real people now! Thanks. |

Christie Vanderloh, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada
I went on the April 13th tour with Steve. I found it to be very interesting, informative and entertaining as well. Steve did a wonderful job of painting a vivid picture of life in 1880's London and the sort of lives the women who were Jack's victims lived. I will be recommending this tour to anyone who goes to London. |
22 April 2008 |
Anne & Brianne, Bolton
Did the tour on Sunday 21 April with Chris. Was worried about picking the wrong tour as I booked on the internet and had no recommendations. Didn't need to! Tour, and Chris, was great. Very informative, and fun, and burnt off lots of calories! Saw other, very large, bored looking groups traipsing round and soooooooo glad I picked this one. Will certainly recommend to anyone visiting London. Thanks Chris for transporting us back in time to 1888, see I did learn something 'in the nick of time', and bringing us safely back to Tower Hill and 2008. |

Steve was brilliant. Very funny guy (we'll ignore the odd bomb here and there).
Great tour. Well-described and informative.
Don't worry about the unresponsiveness of the group.
That's no reflection on the great job you did mate.
Will keep an eye out for you in the Tower. |
02 April 2008 |
AdamD , Oakland, CA
The tour I took, led by Dickie, was the highlight of my trip to London. I was a little apprehensive about going on a walking tour, but the fact that you pay up after the tour set me at ease. Totally blew me away. The length of the tour (two hours), the neighborhoods I wouldn't have thought to explore, and his telling of the story all made for a top notch experience. I went on a Haunted London walk from another group a few days later and it didn't measure up at all.
This is by far the best. |

Q. What do you do on a cold easter friday evening.
A. Go on a Jack the Ripper Tour.
Yes it was cold and dark, all the better for visiting the east end of london. We can assure you that this tour is well worth it, our guide Ken was excellent. He gave us the full low down on Jack and put in some extras. we will be back to go again and visit the Tower of London at the same time. A+++ |

Ali, Whitechapel
3 years living in Whitechapel, drinking on occasion at the Ten Bells, dodging the odd rat and having several overseas friends telling me I should do this tour...What a brilliant evening! (although cold)
Kev was a fountain of interesting knowledge and the jokes - not too bad!
I will definitely be recommending THIS tour to others -especially in the summer.
Thanks |

Mark was outstanding as a guide. Of all the comments he states at the start of his tour, "fun" is definitely the word of the evening. There wasn't a question he couldn't answer, and his enthusiasm for the subject was infectious. We were so impressed, we diverted from our itinery the next day to see him in his usual garb as Yeoman Warder. Highly recommended. Can't imagine any other tour would be as thorough or as entertaining. |

Visited London a few weeks ago and went on the tour with Mark (of the Awesome Hat). Very informative and very professional. He knew how to keep the group together and safe, how to address everyone, how to get his information across, and was over all very entertaining and interesting. To all my friends visiting London, I'm suggesting they check out your tour. |

I went on one of your tours several years ago - the tour guide was a retired Beefeater and it was an excellent evening which I thoroughly enjoyed. At the time I'd been reading a lot of Ripper books and as we walked I found it fascinating to run some of the theories off the well-informed guide.
A couple of years ago I decided to try another tour, this time with a certain company who do tours and have a thick white leaflet. Not only was the magic not there, the guide aloof and appearing to be working to a script but when the tour ended I was abandoned somewhere in the middle of Whitechapel... it took me ages to find my way back to a tube station.
So be warned those who go for the other because their leaflet is everywhere - you'll be getting an inferior product. |

Don't be going to Cork now...Kerry is far superior.
Twas an amazing experience, we were enthralled by your awesome presence. We're all too scared to walk the streets of London now, due to your intense story telling!

On the afternoon of 4th February I took 27 of my History GCSE students, all aged 15, on the tour. Our guide was Kevin and he was fantastic; the students were totally engrossed and thoroughly loved the whole experience. I have highly recommended this tour to many friends and colleagues, it was sooooo good! I will definitely return next year with another group of students as I have written in into the scheme of work as an essential educational visit. Thanks a million Kevin, even if your 'jokes' were a bit suspect! |

A bit overdue in writing about our tour with Kevin....It was absolutely wonderful. We realize that Kevin does the tours, probably in his sleep, however, he gave us a tour as if it was his 1st with excitement and enthusiasm. With a group of 15 or so..it was ideal...We passed several large groups along the way who looked quite bored. They were not able to hear the guides who appeared to be lackluster and rote.......Thanks, Kevin...Have a great pic of you and the tour @ home.....

Did the tour on Thursday 7th with Dickie as the guide. A well conducted and informative tour from a Beefeater who is knowledgeable and has a quick witted sense of humour.
Although we really came for the Tut Exhibition at the O2 the tour was the highlight of the break.
I will recommend the tour to everyone plus include website links to anyone who is interested. Will definately do the tour next time we are back.
Thank you for for a great evening. |

Sunday 10th February. We had Dickie as our guide, he was great, full of information, both about Jack and other parts of london.
It was an amazing experience to walk along cobbled streets knowing that Jack had once walked those same streets looking for victims.
I can fully reccomend the walk, wear some comfy shoes and enjoy the experience. |

We did our tour on Monday 10th December. Our guide for the evening was an informative Mark. It was a very interesting tour with extra bits of 'gossip' thrown in as well.
Mark, it appears you are right, your not mentioned much on the guest book - perhaps you need to continue torturing more of your guests to get mentioned!
Good value for money, good fun, highly recommended.

I went on this tour with Dickie almost a week ago, and I was so busy traveling I didn't get a chance to fill out this form. I must say it was amazing though! I had a great time, and learned a lot. It was a good sized group, so I was able to hear everything clearly. Also, Dickie did a great job of pointing out other random spots of importance, such as Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter movies. Thanks a ton! I've recommended this tour for several of my friends, and I will possibly be returning with my mom in a few weeks. :) |

Dickie "in the middle" was our very excellent tour guide. He gave us an interesting and thorough trip through the back alleys and underbelly of London. He made Victorian England come alive with all it's dark and murderous side. Though graphic, it was informative and very very entertaining! Thank you Dickie for being the icing on our "anniversary trip" cake to London.

My fella Gary & I went on the tour on Sunday and we had a fabulous time! There was a fair amount of people there however, our tour guide was more than accomodating; keeping to an easy pace and speaking clearly enough for us to hear. He even opened our eyes to Harry Potter's Diagon Alley (a hidden gem of London's East End!!). Very creepy in some parts and incredibly eye opening to some of the facts I never knew existed. I strongly recommend this tour!! |

The guide, Kevin. So my thanks to you Kev for a great tour with loads of info and some pretty funny stuff as well. I can't say what the other blokes are like but if they are half as good as Kev then you've all got a pretty good thing going.

Simon says........ lol. Thank you Simon for last night's tour. Whilst I have lived in London all my life, the tour was made entertaining and informative by the knowledgeable and very affable Simon. An introduction to the 'story' of The Ripper for my two daughters who found it very interesting. Despite Simon taking every opportunity to scare the living daylights out of my younger daughter, she was heard to comment half way round the tour 'why can't history lessons at school be this interesting' !! Praise indeed ! Well done to Ripping Yarns and Simon. |

I went on this jack the ripper walk when I were in London in April this year. I really loved the walk but the stories were grose :P but it was a bother that I have to translate everything for my classmates, that was one of the reasons that I don't know everything so this year I will come back to follow the tour :P But the tour was great but I won't recomment it to people who don't speak english:D
greetings from Holland

Thank you to our tour guide, who kept the whole group enthralled and entertained! 29th august 2007 |

Did the tour on the extremely wet night of 14th August, despite the weather it was well worth it.....in fact the grim weather may have added to the ambience!. I have read a lot of Ripper literature and to see the proximity of key places was great, the image which was provoked outside the "prostitutes church" was especially moving,.....well done steve!!! |

Dickie, our guide was a great story teller, he kept us guessing the Rippers identity right until the end. An entertaining gory evening. Thanks. |

We had the best time touring around with Kev. He is extremely entertaining and a very nice person to spend time with. The tour exceeded all our expectations. We knew it was going be good, but this was honestly far better than any of us expected. Very informative and his jokes are hilarious lol. We suggest if you are EVER going to spend time in London and you are thinking of something to do, go to Tower Hill at 6:45pm and you'll have a great night. We all learned alot about Jack the Ripper, the history of London and a little about Freemasonry. Very entertaining night and we even got a picture of ourselves with the awesome Kev! |

We are a little late with our comments, however, on the night of April 2, 2007 we had a totally awesome experience walking the east end of London with our brilliant Jack the Ripper tour guide!! I plan on doing the tour again when I return to London. This experience was one of the top best in my several visits to London. Standing outside the church where the Ladies of the Evening in 1888 would walk for business was rather emotional for me; just knowing what they had to do to survive. The tour also gave us an inside view of what life was like if you were a single female in those days. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! |

we could not believe that we live here in south london and on our door step is this exciting tour of the east end, we went around the white chapel area with ken (beafeater) from the tower no less. it was a great night he was excellent full of info if you do not do this you will miss out |

Marsha, Manitoba, Canada
Ken was an amazing guide. We were with a small group but he made it very exciting and informative. He kept us entertained with extra trivia tidbits as well as all his Jack the Ripper knowledge. We really appreciated that he guided us back to the tower as our friends were not so lucky with another tour group and they were just left in the east end to fend for themselves. We STRONGLY recommed this tour to anyone even if you know nothing of Jack the Ripper, you will when you are finished. Thanks Ken! |

Caryn W., Boston, MA
Dickie is a masterful storyteller. He kept us in suspense for the entire 2 hours of the tour - we hung on his every word. This is a "must-do" for anyone interested in what life was really like during Victorian times in London. Bravo!! |
01 July 2007 |
Mary Rebelo, Hertfordshire England
Spent 2 hours in the company of Dickie on the last day of June 2007. It literally poured with rain the whole time but we were hanging on every word Dickie said. He was great at taking you back to Victorian England and it was amazing standing in all these places where these events took place. Its a very brave thing to not take money from the customers until the end but its a sign of just how good this tour is that everyone paid up without a murmur, we were all still in shock from finding out Dickie's theory about who Jack the Ripper was and most shockingly who he was allegedly working for.
A brilliant value for money way to spend 2 hours. |

Fantastic! Kevin gave our group a terrific tour. I had taken other walks in London before and this was by far the best one!!! I think we all left with a sense of enjoyment, a bit of brain strain from the theories and very satisfied! I didn't know much about Jack the Ripper but I found myself hanging on ever word and by the end feeling a part of the whole mystery that surrounds this story.
Thanks Kev, you rock! |

Cary House, Anderson, Indiana USA
I just returned from a week long European Vacation with several High School Students. We took the tour on June 8th and Kev was our guide, he was great! My students were thrilled, my mother who came along on the trip was scared to death and I was amazed at Kev's knowledge on the subject. After the regular tour Kev took my group down to the beheading spot on Tower Hill and talked to us about the beheadings and methods of execution on the spot, it was AWESOME! Great job Kev.
Take the tour and learn about the Ripper, but these guys give you so much more information on the history of London and history in general. Great story tellers! |

Had a great time with Ken on this tour. He was a walking book of information with a great sense of humor. The walk was exciting and a great time. I will make sure to send everyone I know that comes to England. Thanks for a wonderful, informative and completely enjoyable tour.

Toured with guide 'Dicky' and group of English Police on Tuesday 4th June 2007. I work locally (ie Tower Hamlets, which includes Whitechapel), but knew little of the history of the places he showed us. Tour was really interesting for all of us, and I recommend it to visitors to UK and residents. However, wear comfy shoes and be prepared for lots of walking! 10/10. |

Just wanted to thank Mark for a fun and informative tour around the ripper murder sites. It was well structured and easy to follow with the aid of the handouts. Mark finished the tour with a very convincing theory on why the murders happed and who the 'Actual' Ripper may have been! Thank again! |

Stewart Poole, Bermondsey
I went on this tour last night after it had been recommended by a work colleague (who'd been on it about 4 or 5 times).
Mark the guide was excellent - very informative and kept throwing in ideas about the theories.
As the group was fairly small in numbers, we were all able to see and hear the relevant details, plus look at Mark's handouts.
As far as was possible, the tour was completed in the sequence of the murders, and by attending the actual sites. Apparantely at least one other tour doesn't even do this !
Excellent value - and indeed not asked for any money until the tour was completed.
Thanks Mark for a very enjoyable evening - and info on shopping, eating and drinking in the Spitalfields/Brick Lane areas ! |

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour which was very
imformative and interesting. Ken, our guide, really
bought the story to life. We would not hesitate to
recommend this tour to anyone - at GBP 6.00 it's
a real bargain.
Back soon with the rest of the family.

Well, the guide Dickie showed up later on and the tour kicked off at 'zactly 6:45... it was better than I first imagined. Actually I really enjoyed it, maybe I'll go again...

I booked the tour for my 40th Birthday. I got a good crowd of 25 and we met Steve at Tower Hill. He is a Beefeater at the Tower of London. He was very good, clear and informative, with a good sense of humour. He led us around the back streets of Whitechapel, not only talking about the Ripper murders but telling us other information about the area and the people who used to live there in 1888. A well run tour - highly recommended! |

We went on Dec 9th on a nice clear night. Our guide, Mark, was great, friendly and informative. Obviously a man with a passion for history, and the incidental events that bring history to life. Some atmospheric fog would have made some of the sites even spookier. (Perhaps you can organise that Mark!!) I've recommended this tour to everyone I've spoken to about it. And Mark is the best guide ever! (he said to say that or we'd end up in the Tower!) Joking aside, you blokes offer a great service in illuminating Londons history. Thanks again for a great couple of hours. |

We had Dickie as the guide and it really couldn't have been better. He was a great storyteller which really brought everything to the experience, and he really knew his history. It also went beyond just talking about Jack the Ripper, but about learning about London history both old and modern every step of the way. Not a momnet wasted, very exciting, very well done and worth every penny! |

The tour was definitely one of the most memorable events of our recent trip to London. Not a huge fan of murder and the gory details, but having been enlightened and entertained by Simon at the Tower of London, we just couldn't pass by the opportunity to take the tour with him. It was quite thrilling and the cost is more than fair. Thank you so much! We'll remember and continue to enjoy the experience for quite some time. |

Kathleen & Al DeCicco, Veneto, Italy
We went on this tour during a trip to London the last week in May 2006. It was wonderful- everything we expected and more. Our guide, Kev, was a master of all things Ripper and he kept the tour group captivated throughout. Everyone in the group was intently listening during the course of the tour. No one strayed, or seemed distracted at any time while his tales unfolded. Kev had a real knack for taking us all back in time and filling in interesting historical aspects of the period in London as well. We were sorry when it came to an end- that's how much fun it was. HIGHLY RECOMMEND- this is a GREAT way to spend some time while in London and well worth the price. |

This is one of the best tours that I have been on while visiting London. I was really impressed with our guide, who was very informative about the murders, and various historical trivia as well. I would recommend the tour to all as being worth it, and very enjoyable, interesting journey into yester-year. Thanks for a real exciting Jack-the-Ripper tour experience! |

Kathryn, Edmonton, Canada
This tour is amazing! It's worth every penny and more. The guides are not only knowledgable, but fabulously entertaining. I learned far more in one evening than in days perusing the internet and books. Unlike some other tours, the guides take you through the narrow lanes of Whitechapel to the actual sites where the murders took place. Group sizes are kept small for this reason. Without hesitation, I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone interested in the mysteries of the Ripper murders. |

My girlfriend and myself went on the tour last night. Dickie was our guide and right from the start, he was excellent, really interesting and held the groups total attention throughout. The group was a nice size, so we didnt miss a word. Dickie's knowledge of the subject, London history and London in general, mixed with his excellent sense of humour, made sure that everyone on the tour had an amazing evening.
I live 5 minutes from the tour area and learnt many new things about this part of London.
If you want a fun, informative evening in the company of an excellent guide, then this is the tour for you. And they are true to their word, no payment until you are entirely satisfied.
We paid part way through it was that good!
Well done Dickie - thanks for a really interesting tour! |

Dave has always wanted to do a jack the ripper tour, after he said not only was that money well spent but he had the best time ever, it was a million times better than he had expected it to be.
I have lived in London all my life and I found out things i never knew, all very interesting, Maria.

We had planned to do this walk as part of our holiday in London. After seeing a well dodgy bloke at Tower Hill Station we tried to do the walk ourselves in daylight. The following day we spoke to the Golden Tours rep who recommended Kevin the Beefeater from the Tower of London.
His knowledge and sense of humour made sure we were not disappointed and we spent 2 hours of total enthrallment around the dark streets of Whitechapel - something not recommended if alone - and with the guarantee if you are not satisfied you don't pay he made sure we were very satisfied and paid up without hesitation.
HINT: Listen to Kevin from the beginning as it will all make sense at the end.
Cheers Kevin for a fab tour. |

what to do on a cold dark wet night in london, well iwent on this tour. it was 2hrs around the east end of london. i did not know what to expect. but was thrilled with the tour. the guide . a beefeater from the tower of london. was interesting and had a sense of humour. around the white chapel and brick lane area's we went in search of the mysterious jack the ripper, we did not find jack but it good to try. would reccommend guy's. try this you will not be dissappointed. |

Just because a Jack the Ripper tour has an advertising blitz on the internet, print media or is endorsed by airlines doesn't mean its the best! In fact, it could be lacking in quality which is what I experienced on my London trip. I got a hot tip to attend a Ripper Tour offered by Ripping Yarns instead of the usual London Walks of which tourists are lured into taking. I arrived at the meeting spot and was glad to hear that our guide, Mick King, did not charge first but rather after the tour was over and if we were satisfied with it. His competitor wanted the cash before-hand. Our tour began a half hour earlier then the London Walks tour which was good because it meant that I would beat them to the pub afterwards! Our guide was the best of the best because he is also a Yeoman Warder, "Beefeater" at the Tower of London! All the guides for Ripping Yarns are employed in this manner as well. Mr. King was dramatic, humorous and provided a suspenseful atmosphere in his manner of speaking and visual aids of the murder victims, suspects, and Victorian history. There was 36 people in my group which was a cozy number and allowed us to hear Mr. King and each other's comments and questions. He took us to each murder site in the order the murders occurred! This was very satisfying and provided a tingly sense of dread! Halfway through our tour my jaw dropped as the bigger London Walks tour passed by with about 400 hundred people! How could the people in the back hear? Alot of them were straggling and I doubted the quality of their experience. I noted too that their tour was obviously not visiting the sites in historical order. It seemed like they were going in backwards order! We finished our tour and Mr. King was rewarded with a rousing round of applause and our cash payment for services provided above and beyond the call of duty! Well done Mr. King! I was so pleased to have taken this Ripping Yarns tour as opposed to the other better known tour. To have taken the other one, would have been the true horror!! |

We really enjoyed the Tour, there were only about 25 of us and we were able to cover quite a few sites. This is the second tour we have been on, the previous tour was led by an American trying to mimic a London accent, very strange, sorry forgot the Guides name, just that he was a Beefeater. |
